Senior Class Celebrates Senior Spirit Day.

End-of-year Ceremonies Honor Students BY AMY LU & ARIA DIDDEN
O
n June 7, Holton debuted its Community Farewell Ceremony and brought the community together before the end of the year. In addition to an upper school awards ceremony on June 6, departments recognized upper school students in an awards assembly on May 24, where students were celebrated for their achievements in academics, athletics and the arts. Maggie Brett-Major ’22 earned the Class of ’96 Award while the Head’s Award was bestowed upon Eve Mullen ’22. Tomison Sobande ’22, Caroline Dickey ’22 and Emme Pastor ’22 accepted Head’s Letters of Commendation. The Joseph C. and Eve Kemp Richards Award went to Lily Meierhoefer ’22. Senior Iman Syed attained the James Whittier Lewis Award. Junior Calla Doh received the Alumnae Scholar award, and Daniella Nichols ’22 was awarded the Alumnae Senior Prize. The
Alumnae Award was given to Fiona Turnbull ’22. Madeline Feldner ’22 gained the Michael Higgins Award for Intellectual Leadership. Sophia Hall ’22 accepted the Diana Coulton Beebe Award. Junior Meso Ezebuiro received the Suzanne Melanie Phillips Leadership Award. The Lorrie Lipscomb Booster Award honored Booster member Meierhoefer. Lily Mulhbaum ’22 accepted the Marriott School Service Award while Maya Grebowsky ’22 was presented with the Community Engagement Award for her exceptional hours of service. The Terrell McSweeny Prize recognized Nicole Powell ’22. Two Middle Schoolers, Nell Choi ’27 and Alexis Akwara ’26, received the Catherine P. Wheatley Award. As for departmental awards, Sophie Duncan ’22 accepted the Suzanne Bai-
ley Award while Nichols earned the Betty Woods Nevitt Award. The Holton Athletics Association (HAA) voted Serena Hong ’22 the recipient of the Cassie Johnson Athletic Award, and the Mary Happer Award went to dancer Emily Brainerd ’22. The Dr. Ross J. Clark Chorus Award celebrated Charlie Rhein ’22. The National School Orchestra Award honored player Savannah Zachary ’22 while the John Philip Sousa Band Award recognized Kate Hallbach ’22. Amanda Phillips ’22 received the Carolyn Gott DuPont Drama Award, and the Phyllis Ehrlich Award praised senior Sara War’s contribution to theater production. Carly Armitage ’22, Portia Gharai ’22 and Serena Hong ’22 accepted the Photography Award, Studio Art Award and Ceramics Award respectively. The Junior Science Award went to Mari
Clark ’23 while the Junior Mathematics Award went to Jessica Lian ’23. Tali Smith ’22 earned the Science Department Award, and Caitlin Wang ’22 received the Elaine Gelman Award for Overall Excellence in Mathematics. The Senior STEM award was awarded to Rin Limi ’22. The Federick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony Award extolled Lian. Sobande received the History of Art Award. The Nancy Ellen Cohen History Award went to Kate Broeksmit ’22. The Helen Shearman Latin Prize honored Bella Terhune ’22. The Spanish Award was presented to Alida Camper ’22 while the Chinese Award recognized Khushi Hota ’22. Turnbull accepted the French Prize. Mullen received the Pamela Farley Creative Writing Award. Bestowed upon Meierhoefer was the Leicester Rogers English Award. The Sally Alexander Scroll Writing Award went to Leyla Rasheed ’22.
