Wanggulay

Congratulations on considering Cairns and Wanggulay for your next holiday. Our aim is to help you have a Holiday of a Lifetime and with that in mind we have compiled this Guide. It contains information from guests, owners and managers over the 10 years we have been operating as a luxury rainforest retreat on all the best things to see and do in the area. The name Wanggulay means sulphur crested white cockatoo which are often seen around the Barron River area. The name acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Djabugay. CONTACT US - ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP We love referrals, which is the how the majority of our guests get to hear about us. Feel free to share this Guide with anyone who might be interested in exploring and staying in Cairns.

BARRON RIVER GORGE NATIONAL PARK

One of the highlights of a holiday at Wanggulay is the accessibility of the Barron River Gorge National Park from the front door. You can do short walks of 30 mins up Stoney Creek falls or longer walks of 4-6 hours or around 14 kms with spectacular views from Glacier Rock the dominant bluff in the valley. Although you can visit the park all year round,
