The stroke average of Augusta National’s par-4 first hole during the 2012 tournament, making it the hardest hole. The first gave up only 11 birdies in four days, while the field also recorded 13 double bogeys and four dreaded “others” at the 445-yarder.

The amount of prize money, in millions of dollars, that Tiger Woods has accumulated from competing in The Masters. Woods, the overwhelming favourite for this year, is a fourtime winner of the event, his last victory at Augusta coming in 2005.

The distance, in yards, that Louis Oosthuizen’s miraculous 4-iron shot for an albatross on the par-5 second hole of last year’s final round travelled. It was the first albatross (or double eagle) ever made on the hole during The Masters.

5 of the Best: Masters Champions Dinner Menus Every year at Augusta, the previous year’s Masters champion chooses the menu at the famed Champions Dinner on Tuesday night. It’s an exclusive gathering – only Masters winners and the club chairman make the guest list. 2012 victor Bubba Watson says he’s not going to reveal the make-up of his menu before the week of the tournament, but he’ll certainly have his work cut out if he’s to better Vijay Singh’s mouth-watering selection of 2001, which is our favourite of the past 25 years. He does, however, stand a good chance of exceeding Tiger Woods’ rather dull choice of cheeseburgers in 1998. 1. Vijay Singh (2001) Chicken panang curry, baked Chilean sea bass, rack of lamb in yellow curry sauce, and sea scallops in a pepper garlic sauce. 2. Angel Cabrera (2010) An Argentine asado, a five-course barbecue with blood sausage, pork sausage and beef ribs. 3. José María Olazábal (1995) Paella and tapas. 4. Mike Weir (2004) Elk, wild boar, Arctic char and Canadian beer. 5. Charl Schwartzel (2012) A “braai”, a South African-style barbecue of pork, lamb chops, chicken, steak and sausages.

“I’ve never been to heaven, and thinking back on my life, I probably won’t get a chance to go. I guess winning The Masters is a close as I’m going to get.” AFP
