OTR Technology – A Safer Way to Clean and Enlarge Canals DentaPort ZX Low Speed Handpiece with OTR technology prepares root canals while displaying precise and accurate measurements. During file rotation, the torque is automatically measured. If the torque is less than the set value, the file rotation continues, but if the torque has reached the set value, the file reverses rotation by 90° and then continues in the cutting direction once again. OTR reduces file fatigue, as well as the possibility of file breakage. Lightweight, the handpiece is ergonomically designed to minimise fatigue and fingertip stress and is ideal for endodontic access. It offers 3 speed settings of 100, 300 and 500 rpm and 3 programmable memory modes. The module also offers operation in Normal Mode without the Optimum Torque Reverse function. EDTA solution is a frequently used irrigant and chelating agent assisting in debridement, cleaning, and widening of root canals during root canal treatment. Its main activity is toward smear layer removal which makes it effective in removing the inorganic component of dentin. However, EDTA solutions cannot remove the smear layer effectively; a proteolytic component, such as Sodium Hypochlorite solution, should be added to remove the organic components of the smear layer. Irrigation solutions are used to help dissolve vital and necrotic tissue, eradicate bacteria and other microorganisms, remove the smear layer, and lubricate the canal system. Clinicians now have two distinct formulations of the same proven pre-mixed bioceramic sealer to choose from. Compared to standard BC Sealer, BC Sealer HiFlow exhibits a lower viscosity when heated and is more radiopaque, making it optimized for warm obturation techniques. Standard gutta percha can be used with BC Sealer, but for a true, gap-free seal, BC Points are recommended. BC Points are impregnated and coated with bioceramic particles to allow for bonding with BC Sealer. The benefit of using BC Sealer and BC Points is that three-dimensional bonded obturation can be achieved at room temperature.
