HANK HEHMSOTH HOOKED WITH PROJAZZ "The world needs more artists!" For more than a year we have had the visit of an old friend, Professor of Texas State University Hank Hehmsoth. Hank is an acclaimed and renowned American jazz musician, as well as composer and teacher. He has won 5 Grammies and has participated in tours with Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Cristopher Cross. This is the second time Hank won a Fulbright grant, and the second time Projazz was chosen for his work. A year in the development of its program with the help of the professor and orientation advisor Ignacio Arriagada M. Everybody! We want you to come to Projazz because we offer enormous experience and knowledge in the North American jazz, already with more than 15 classes, and activities with alumni. Projazz: What does Hank think of all this? “It is common to say that considered that jazzers are considered among the most intelligent musicians and leaders in the music industry. If you know musical theory, you know how to improvise and how to play in different types of ensembles, then you are prepared to adapt to any opportunity in the different fields that music offers. Projazz students have the freedom to choose whether they want to play, be teachers or follow other training courses anywhere in the world.”

Projazz: Second time we have you at Projazz, how has this new visit been?

“I am very happy to share with your community, with the students, enjoy the campus and also meet the tremendous staff of teachers and people who are supporting this activity, who share with me this love of jazz and other styles too.” I really feel like an ambassador for the good that the world has given us in music. Through musical education one appropriates the tools and also the patience needed to truly learn how to handle your instrument. And I can’t put into words how proud I am of sharing so many times on stage with Projazz students, in classes and at concerts. I really enjoy the enthusiasm that the students give me. All your questions are those bright faces when one sees that they are understanding an idea. I feel that I have the opportunity to motivate many young students on this trip, just when they are in a critical stage of learning, between the ages of 20 and 30. Now is the time to do it!

It is a new stage in my life, this transferring knowledge to new generations. I am not famous, nor am I the most talented musician in the world. That is why it is important that my students at Projazz know that they can become great professionals, and achieve all the success they want! My goal has always been to devote everything I know for those who study music. Always lending a hand to other musicians. Sharing secrets and shortcuts, presenting to them simple explanations for complex problems so that they can apply them in their own way and achieve their own artistic goals. I want to expand the joy that it feels to learn music and art, I want to boost the creativity of the students.
