Prof.P.Murugesan founded RICST(Ram Institute of Computer Science & Technology) in 1985, way ahead of the ITwave of the 90's. This pioneering effort in the agricultural district of Thanjavur gained quick recognition by its affiliation to the Bharathidasan University in 1989 for PGDCA course. This led to the establishment of Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College in 1994. Since it is Managed by an academician, its PHILOSOPHY along with its derivatives VISION, MISSION and GOAL - were predetermined under the umbrella of QUALITY and DISCIPLINE. Courses Offered: Engineering & Technology Under Graduate - B. Tech Bio-Technology, Civil Engg, Computer Science and Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg, Electronics & Communication Engg, Electronics & Instrumentation Engg, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering. Post Graduate - M. Tech Bio-Technology, Structural Engg, Computer Science and Engg, Power Electronics & Drives, Communication Systems, Applied Electronics, Environmental Engg, Manufacturing Technology. Alumini: An Alumini Association was formed in our college during 2003 - 04 and the association is functioning with 1500 members. The Association tries to interact with old students and create a platform for fellowship and placement assistance. Library: The well-stacked libraries at the two campuses provide conducive learning atmosphere. The inventory is enhanced on a daily basis. An ERP package for PRIST includes Library Information System. PRIST is a member of British Council Library. Delnet service provides internetbased access facility to libraries across the world.

Accommodation: The hostel complex at PRIST is designed to provide comport and convenience,thus being conducive to right level of motivation for students to pursue their studies and for interaction with fellow students under standard guidelines. The East Campus as well as the West Campus hostels are being expanded. There are separate hostels for UG and PG girls. Basic sports and recreation facilities are made available in all the hostels. Placements: The placement Cell functions as the link between the outgoing Students and to the industries and Organisations. The aim of the placement cell is to help the students by providing placement and training. The Placement Cell arranges for campus interviews, Guest Lectures and maintains student's updated resumes. Sports & Recreation: The Physical Education Department of PRIST coordinates the sports activities. The management’s commitment to look after the students’ flair for sports got additional fillip by Government of India’s grant for augmenting sports equipment. At the East Campus, a Volley Ball Court and a Basket Ball Court already exist. Courts for Ball Badminton, Shuttle Badminton (separately for boys and girls) and Tennikoit (for girls) are coming up. In West Campus 400 mt. Running Track, Cricket, Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Shuttle Badminton, Long Jump, High Jump, Parallel Bar, Weight Lifting facilities, etc. Fees: On Request Vice Chancellor: Dr. N.
