Welcome to Bead Cruise 2020 As we celebrate our 15th anniversary of Bead Cruise adventures, I want to welcome you aboard! This booklet was created as a starting point for your bead adventure and a momento of your journey. CHRYSANTHEMUM NECKLACE

Floral elements repeat throughout this design to create a lush garden necklace. Supplies: Polymer clay bird bead

14mm polymer clay disk bead 30mm silver floral pendant 8mm bead cap O-bead spacer

8mm English cut bead

20mm brass rope jump ring

10 12mm Czech glass flowers 12 8mm jump rings

26” 19 ga annealed steel wire 18” copper chain

1. Create a loop 1 ½” from the bottom of the wire, open the loop and string on the floral pendant. Close the loop and wrap the wire two times above the loop. 2. String on the disk bead, o-bead spacer, bird, bead cap and English cut bead. Create a wrapped loop on top of the last bead. 3. Add the 20mm jump ring to the pendant.


4. Cut 10 2” lengths of 19 ga wire. Create a simple loop at the bottom of the wire, add the flower bead, trim wire to ⅝” and create a simple loop on top the bead. Create 9 more of these flower bead links. The loops should all face front to back, expect the first links should have one facing front to back and one end, left to right. 5. Attach each link together with 8mm jump rings. Attach the first bead links to the 20mm jump ring. 6. Attach the chain to the end of the beaded links with 8mm jump rings. Steel Wire Tips When working with annealed steel wire you must prep the wire. Wipe it down with a paper towel and then seal with Renaissance Wax. Use only heavy duty Xuron wire cutters or memory wire cutters with steel wire.)

BRAMBLE EARRINGS 1. Create a jump ring rosette by adding one jump ring to another, add the third jump ring through both of the first two jump rings. Add the jump ring rosette over the links of the pod charm. 2. Use a 5mm jump ring to add the pod to the twig connector. Add an earring wire to the top of the twig connector. NOUVEAU FLOWER EARRINGS Czech glass with metallic accents of color are the perfect offset to the stunning enamel flowers. When designing, you don’t have to use every hole on a component, sometimes less is more.

Supplies: 2 enamel flower charms

2 12mm Czech glass flowers 2 Czech glass leaves

2 3mm faceted brass beads 10” 20 gauge brass wire

4 6mm brass jump rings

2 8mm gold plated jump rings 2 brass earwires

1. Cut 5” of wire. Thread the wire, 1 1/2” through the leaf bead. Pull the two ends of the wire up from the bead. Create a wrapped loop with the shorter wire piece, wrap twice and trim wire. 2. String on the flower and faceted beads. Create a wrapped loop on top. Attach the bead link to the bottom of the enamel charm with a 6mm jump ring. 3. LAUREL LEAF BRACELET An asymmetrical design where glass flower buttons and disk beads balance each other out on either side of a striking golden leaf.

Supplies: 50mm leaf bracelet cuff

20mm twisted ring

8 12 Czech button flower beads

Brass hook clasp

3 14mm polymer clay disk beads 2 6mm melon beads

6 4mm faceted brass beads

4 8mm gold plated 9” 20 ga brass wire

18” 4ply waxed linen cord

1. Cut a 3” length of wire, create a wrapped loop, add a disk bead, finish with a wrapped loop. Repeat two more times. Attach each link together with 8mm jump rings. 2. Attach the clasp to the beaded links with an 8mm jump ring. Attach the other end of the beaded links to the leaf cuff.


3. Fold the linen in half, string the looped end through the leaf cuff, pull the two ends of the cord through the loop, creating a lark’s knot. With both cords together, tie a knot. 4. String two button beads on each side of the cord, with both cords together tie a knot. 5. On both cords, string a faceted bead, tie a knot. One both cords, string a melon bead, tie a knot. Add another faceted bead, tie a knot. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5. 7. Wrap the cord around the 20mm twisted ring, pulling the cords tightly to the last beads. With both cords together, tie a knot under the ring. Wrap the cords around the ring again and tie a knot under the ring. Glue the knot. Add a faceted bead to each cord and tie a knot. 1. Cut 2.5” inches of wire. String 3 of the crescent beads on the two headpins to hold the headpins in place temporarily. Under the beads, wrap the wire around the two headpins four times. Trim the wire and use chain nose pliers to squeeze the wires tightly around the headpins, keeping the width the same size. Remove the crescent beads. 2. Add the 4mm jump ring to the key charm. On an 8mm jump ring add the key charm, bird charm and gear charm, close jump ring. Slide the jump ring over one headpin and position it between the two headpins. 3. One both headpins string on the crescent bead. One each headpin, string on one 11/0 seed bead. Repeat. Add another crescent bead on both headpins. Trim wire, create a simple loop on both headpins. 4. With chain nose pliers fold the filigree in half, making sure the centers meet. With the chain nose pliers pinch the filigree to flatten it slightly more. 5. Add a 15mm jump through the headpin loops, add the filigree, close jump ring. Add an 8mm jump ring to the top of the filigree. Attach the earwire with the twisted jump ring. SARI RIBBON TASSEL


Whip up a tassel in minutes to add a dash of texture and luxury to your next design. Supplies: 3 10” lengths of sari ribbon 12” 4ply waxed linen cord Starfish charm 15mm brass jump ring

1. Prep the sari silk by removing any loose threads. Pull the three strands of silk through the jump ring, centered and fold them over. 2. Under the jump ring, wrap the waxed linen tightly around the sari silk 5-6 times. Tie into a knot. 3. Slide on the starfish charm on to one of the waxed linen cords, tie a knot with both cords to secure the charm. Secure the charm with a second knot. STACKED JUNGLE FOLIAGE PENDANT

1. Fold the leather in half, insert through the pendant with the loop coming through the back. Pull the two ends of the cord through the loop to make a lark’s knot. 2. String on a ceramic round bead, two ceramic coins, polymer clay round bead, ceramic round beads. With both ends of the cord, tie a knot.

DRAGONFLY GARDEN EARRINGS 1. Cut a 3” piece of 22 gauge steel wire, at 1” create loop. Open loop, slip on filigree charm, close loop. Wrap the wire twice above the loop. Add on the flower button bead, create a wrapped loop on top, trim wire. Attach earwire to top loop. 2. Attach dragonfly to filigree with a 4mm jump ring. 1. Cut the chain in half, attach to the fern focal with 8mm jump rings. Attach the clasp to the end of the chain with 6mm jump rings. Repeat on other side of the focal. 2. Cut 12” of cord, fold in half and thread the loop though the 8mm jump ring on the bracelet. Pull the ends of the cord through the loop to create a lark’s knot. With both sides of the cord, tie a knot. 3. On both cords add a faceted bead, with both cords tie a knot. On one cord, add 5 lentil beads, repeat on the other cord. With both cords tie a knot.
