Volunteer Opportunities for Winter 2015 Monday, January 12th to Friday, March 27th Hundreds of lives get impacted every day because of the support of our volunteers. HOLA volunteers become an integral part of providing our students with a life full of positive development and new opportunities. We have many opportunities for this quarter in which you, a relative or a friend could help make a difference in the Los Angeles community. If you can give as little as one hour a week, we want you! Please see below for a list of opportunities: Sm artStart/Elem entary School Tutors/Hom ew ork Assistance: We are looking for volunteers to help students with their homework assignments in subjects such as language arts, writing, math, science and social studies. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Tutoring hours Mon.-Thurs. from 2:30-6:00 pm. Bridges/M iddle School Tutors/Hom ew ork Assistance: We are looking for volunteers to help students with their homework assignments in subjects such as language arts, writing, math, science and social studies. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Tutoring hours M & W from 4:00pm-6:30pm and/or Tues & Thur from 4:30pm -5:30pm. ART VAD Research Assistant: We are looking for a research intern that will help with program evaluation, compile best practices and help create a program hadbook. We are looking for someone who is enrolled in college or is a recent graduate. Volunteer Hours are determined by volunteers schedule. Teacher Assistant: We are looking for volunteers to assist our students and instructors in their classes. Classes that need assistance are painting, new media, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, printing and/or ceramics. Volunteer Hours Requested: Mon.-Thurs. from 4:30pm-6:30pm; & Fri. from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Academ ic Tutor: We are looking for volunteers to provide homework support for Art Focus students. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Mon.-Wed. from 3:30pm - 4:30pm. M usic/YOLA at HOLA Academ ic Tutors: We are looking for volunteers to help students with their homework assignments in subjects such as language arts, writing, math, science and social studies. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Mon.-Thurs. from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Front Building M onitor: We are looking for volunteers who will help monitor the students during transition periods, especially at the beginning of the day from 3pm - 4pm before class starts. Volunteers must feel comfortable supervising the students and enforcing rules to keep them safe. Volunteers Hours Requested: Mon-Thurs. From 3:00pm-5:00pm. Brass M usician: We are looking for a volunteer who will help assist teachers in instruction of brass, help invidual students to focus on specific sections of the repertoire. Volunteer must be an experienced brass musician that is confortable playing infront of class, teaching and/or assisting


the instructor. Volunteer Hours Requested: Mon. From 6:00pm-7:30pm, Tues. from 6:30pm7:30pm, & Fri. from 6:00pm-7:30pm HO LA Big Band: We are looking for volunteers to help students and instructors with the changing program. Volunteers will assist students with guitar or bass instruments, they must also feel comfortable teaching and mamaging a class. Volunteer Hours Requested: Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 4:00pm-7:00pm; & Sat. 9:00am-3:00pm Scientific Arts Lab Assistant: We are looking for volunteers who are familiar with coding and computer science. Volunteer Hours Requested: Tues. And Thurs. from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Com m unication/Adm inistration Digital M edia Volunteer/Intern: We are looking for a volunteer who can assist with creating a digital annual report. Volunteer will need to take photos and video and later compile them into a movie with stats and infographics. Volunteer Hours Requested: Varies and is based on volunteer schedule.
