This stunning necklace features an antique French "Marianne" medal designed by well-known engraver Alfred Borrell. During the French Revolution of 1789, many allegorical personifications of 'Liberty' and 'Reason' appeared. These two figures finally merged into one: a female figure, Marianne, one of the most prominent symbols of the French Republic. The medal was issued by the French Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is marked "Argent" for silver. It has been engraved with the recipient's name and the year of the award, 1926.
