North Bay Jobs & Prosperity Project The “North Bay Jobs & Prosperity Project” (NBJPP), is a new venture unveiled in August that provides an opportunity for voters to learn how candidates stand on issues that affect our local economy and the creation and retention of jobs. The theme for the Project is “Jobs – and the North Bay’s future – depend on your vote.” The Healdsburg Chamber has joined the Santa Rosa, Cotati, Rohnert Park, and Windsor Chambers of Commerce, along with Codding Enterprises, Redwood Credit Union, Goodwill Industries of the Redwood Empire, North Bay Association of Realtors, Northern California Engineering Contractors Association, Santa Rosa Firefighters Local 1401, and the Santa Rosa Small Business Development Center in support of the NBJPP. The North Coast Builders Exchange joined forces with the Sonoma County Alliance and the North Bay Leadership Council to create the business community’s most extensive voter education program in Sonoma County history. The Project is built around an extensive web site that offers answers
given by candidates for City Councils and the Board of Supervisors to a series of questions pertaining to the future of our local economy. The goal is to have voters judge for themselves which candidates appear to be jobs-friendly and which do not. In addition, the NBJPP has a voter registration component to encourage see NB JOBS on page 3 ... Promoting the Community
Holidays in Healdsburg Holidays in Healdsburg kicksoff a month long event combining annual festivities, chic contemporary aspects and old-fashioned Wine Country charm. Fabulous food and wine, a Downtown Holiday Party, lodging specials and wine country hospitality cornerstone the Holidays in Healdsburg events that start on Friday November 26 and run through the New Year. The Downtown Holiday Party on November 26 from 5 to 9 p.m., is one of the town’s annual holiday traditions. This celebration in and around Healdsburg’s charming Downtown Plaza features holiday food and wine at dozens of participating boutique shops decorated in starry-white lights for all to enjoy. Entertainment for the evening includes hot jazz, a cool brass quintet and horse-drawn carriage see HOLIDAYS on page 2

HOLIDAYS ... rides around the historic downtown area. Many shops and tasting rooms also host their own holiday treats, special promotional events and sales for the duration of the evening. Healdsburg’s Strolling Dine Around starts on Wednesday, Dec. 8 and continues on Dec. 9, 15 and 16. The three-hour and four-course dining experience includes restaurants within walking distance of the historic Plaza, all known for being Healdsburg’s finest. Check out the article to your right for more information. On December 12, it’s the annual Victorian Inns Holiday Tour. Six Victorian-era inns are decorated in their holiday finest and are opening their doors to this complimentary self-guided tour with holiday snacks and beverages from 2 to 5 p.m. Breakfast with Santa, Menorah Lighting, Madrona Manor’s Dickens Dinners, Raven Youth Troupe Production of A Winnie the Pooh Christmas Tail, Children’s Holiday Reading by the Fireplace in Hotel Healdsburg’s Lobby and Family Gingerbread House Decorating at Relish Culinary Center are a few of the other Holidays in Healdsburg events. 2010 Strolling Dine Around The Strolling Dine Around features 16 local restaurants, all showcasing the best of Wine Country cuisine, in a four-course progressive dinner as part of Holidays in Healdsburg on December 8, 9, 15 and 16. A party atmosphere infuses the town and delicious scents permeate the air, as couples and groups take to the Healdsburg streets in this dining extravaganza. The three-hour dining experience includes restaurants, all within walking distance of the historic p l a z a , k n o w n for being Healdsburg’s finest. Style and price point may range from the Bear Republic Brewing Company to Cyrus Restaurant but all the restaurants are known for delivering seriously delicious food, locally-sourced and prepared in innovative dishes. A portion of the event’s proceeds is donated to Healdsburg Shared Ministries Food Pantry. Informally, each restaurant competes to deliver the best in their category while displaying holiday ambiance, style and culinary talent. Two of this year’s first courses include annual event participants favorites: Sake’O’s martini prawns (served with the new wave roll and the Spanish fly additional starters) and Willi’s Seafood and Raw Bar’s tuna tartar with coconut milk, cashews and jalapeño (served with flash-fried calamari, warm sourdough bread and blue arugula and endive salad with blue cheese, cherries and a truffle honey vinaigrette). Tori Lewis has been working within the banking industry for more than 15 years. She currently holds the position of Operations Tori Lewis Officer for Summit State Bank Summit State Bank’s Healdsburg branch. Tori has been working hard as an ambassador for the Healdsburg Chamber for over a year now and strives to support her local community and encourage active participation with the Chamber. Two of the main course competitors are Relish Culinary Adventures’ pomegranate braised short ribs with cauliflower gratin and duck leg confit with green peppercorn brandy cream sauce and truffle-mashed potatoes. Rosanne Park is endlessly talented with either a crochet or knitting needle in fact, she recently taught herself to knit left-handed in order to facilitate teaching the lefties in her classes. These two ladies complement and enhance each other’s talents and have resulted in bringing a little “joy” to our community. Dr. Mayorga received a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from Rush-Presbyterian, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. She completed residency in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated with an MD from the University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, Utah. Married to Patrick Rousche, a tenured professor in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, they have two children, Patrick and Catherine, who give them joy every day. Dr. Mayorga speaks limited French and Spanish. Her hobbies are dancing, painting, hiking and camping.
