I always drill deep enough to push the plug through the tile so it doesn’t expand and crack the tile.

This new DeWalt XRP 18V drill will do just about everything you need in a bathroom fit. I am using a diamond core drill, which should really be used with water to extend the life, but in this situation I ran it on the slowest speed to prevent overheating.

On site This adjustable spanner can be closed with your thumb which is handy in confined spaces but difficult to photograph so I am showing it here where you wouldn’t really need that feature.

With good basin fixings you can take the pedestal away to connect the trap. If I am working on mains pressure I only ever use flexible 10mm pipes up inside the pedestal. The flexible tap connectors are only 10mm bore, so why make life hard? 10mm is plenty big enough for a basin. The pedestal trap comes from Multikwik and is adjustable for height so you only have to be approximate with the waste pipe height.
