One of the finest traditional singers in Ireland today, Cathy Jordan has gathered some of her closest musical friends to deliver a delectable evening of traditional music and song. Gerry O’Beirne is one of Ireland’s most loved and respected songwriters. Songs such as Western Highway and The Holy Ground have become classic Irish folk songs of our time. In this very special concert, a host of wonderful musicians and singers gather to celebrate his songs. Fiddle player Brian Rooney emigrated in the late 1960s, from Leitrim to London. He became a powerful musical influence in London and has inspired many generations of musicians since. With tone, rhythm and variations that have become legendary at this point and we are delighted to bring The Godfather, one of the master fiddlers of our time, to Sligo for a rare performance. Also featuring Fr. Seamus Quinn on flute.

Colm O’Donnell & Friends WED 12 AUG | 1PM | €8/4 u18s

Colm O’Donnell, from Kilmacteige, Co. Sligo is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s best traditional singers. As well as being vocally gifted, he is also an outstanding musician and his lilting is hard to beat! This incredibly talented family team from Abbeyfeale have an unmistakable and infectious sound. Michelle plays harp, concertina, piano and fiddle, Louise; flutes and uilleann pipes and their father Mick; accordions and melodeons. Concertina player, Edel Fox, from Clare and her partner and fiddler, Neill Byrne from Waterford are joined by Monaghan harpist, Michael Rooney and Sligo flute player June McCormack. This promises to be a beautiful concert of extraordinarily talented couples making sweet music together.

A traditional Irish music band for children, The Speks live on a mysterious Island off the coast of Co. Clare called Glasses Island, where everybody wears glasses! They perform nursery rhymes and sing-along songs set to acoustic Irish music while encouraging kids to sing along. This is a great, fun event for kids.

Virtual Trad Orchestra SUN 16 AUG | 8PM

To celebrate Fleadh Cheoil Sligo and Yeats 150th birthday we invited musicians and singers to record the Sligo anthem; Down by the Salley Gardens. Such is the popularity of traditional Irish music, people from all over the world joined us by submitting their videos.
