PROJECTS TURKEY’S AGT MOVES AHEAD WITH MDF
Turkish wood-based materials manufacturer AGT has ordered machinery and equipment from Siempelkamp for a new MDF plant at Antalya. The main component in the supply is an 8 ft. x 55.3 m Generation 8 ContiRoll continuous press. For Siempelkamp this is the seventh 55.3 m ContiRoll sold to a Turkish customer. AGT manufactures PVC-coated MDF profiles for the furniture industry, wall panels, as well as interior doors. To do so the company currently needs to import 500 m3 of MDF per day. Siempelkamp is responsible for the complete planning of the plant for the customer. The ContiRoll press incorporates the new pressure distribution plate concept. By using pressure distribution plates over the entire length of the press and adding extra cylinders in each press frame, the press operates
virtually isobaric. For the customer this means minimum tolerances and reduced raw material consumption. The scope of supply also includes both a resin preparation and dosing system and the new Ecoresinator, which should be able to reduce resin consumption by 15-20%. The Ecoresinator has been sold to Turkish customers seven times to date, which means, according to Siempelkamp, that all of the large MDF manufacturers in Turkey are using this blending technology—either as new plant component or as retrofit. The order also includes an energy plant for the process heat supply as well as dryers by Büttner. The panel handling system downstream from the forming and press line will be supplied by Siempelkamp. Also included in the order are cooling and stacking systems, an automatic storage system for stacks of jumbo masterboards as well as a sanding line with integrated board cutting and sorting.
