There’s a Heath Robinson exhibition in The Georgian restaurant; the artist’s illustrations of absurdly complex contraptions were part of the inspiration behind Gavin’s show-stopping horticultural masterpiece. The Food Halls will feature floral patisserie; and over floral-themed afternoon tea in The Conservatory at The Georgian, you can enjoy talks by experts including author and plant expert Helen Dillon, award-winning garden designer Mark Gregory, and Gavin himself. HEATH ROBINSON EXHIBITION Known for his illustrations of ridiculously complicated inventions (the term “Heath-Robinson contraption” entered the dictionary in 1912), English artist William Heath Robinson proved the perfect muse for this year’s Harrods British Eccentrics Garden. Cue shears that prune automatically, bobbing box hedges and bay trees that twirl – all of which are powered by a mechanical man on a bicycle. In honour of the artist, Harrods has teamed up with The William Heath Robinson Trust and the Chris Beetles Gallery to curate a month-long exhibition featuring more than 60 drawings displaying Robinson’s humorous take on gardens and domestic life. FLORAL AFTERNOON TEA Toasting all things bright and botanical, The Conservatory at The Georgian’s Floral Afternoon Tea includes finger sandwiches and a range of floral-themed patisserie (details below). £34 per person. To mark the start of the British summer season, seven of the world’s top milliners will be on hand to

As SS16 welcomes floral prints and horticulture-inspired ranges for our smallest customers, children are invited to come in-store for a day of dressing up. They can choose a favourite outfit, and an illustrator will sketch each attendee in their ensemble. They can even take the sketch home. THE HARRODS BRITISH ECCENTRICS GARDEN For the second year in a row, Harrods will have a special garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. This year’s creation is wonderfully whimsical, taking its lead from cartoonist Heath Robinson. Designed by celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin, The Harrods British Eccentrics Garden includes quirky contraptions that allow the garden to come to life. BENTLEY’S SEA GRILL The renowned Bentley’s in Piccadilly, which celebrates its centenary this year, is today owned and run by celebrated Irish chef Richard Corrigan.
