Harley® engineers have been hard at work designing and testing this exciting Sportster accessory. Available in complete kit form, it offers you an alternative to our stock production rear chain drive. For years 1200/1340 Big Twin owners have reaped the benefits of secondary belt drive—less overall maintenance (i.e. lubrication, adjustments, etc.) and smoother power transmission. Belt drive also runs quieter since the polyurethane composition belt cushions contact with the sprockets, think of it this way...the less time you have to spend on maintenance...the more time you can spend enjoying your Sportster!!! A.M.A. ANNOUNCES 1990 U.S. TWIN SPORTS RACING SERIES

U.S. Twin Sports, the new racing series for Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster® motorcycles, kicks off its second season in 1990. U.S. Twin Sports is designed to offer close, down-to-the-wire racing—at little cost to racers. Strict technical rules for the series control costs and ensure competitive racing. Key regulations include a virtual ban on engine modifications except for specified replacement .010 O.S. pistons, Screamin' Eagle High Flow Air Cleaner Kits, free flowing mufflers or exhaust systems, DOTapprpyed tires are required, and only specified components such as shock absorbers, fork springs and brake pads can vary from stock parts. U.S. Twin Sports was formed last summer by the American Motorcyclist Association and the AMA-affiliated Champion Cup Series, with assistance from Harley-Davidson. The first race of the season will take place March 11,1990, the last day of the annual Bike Week motorcycle rally, at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL. U.S. Twin Sports is open to any rider licensed to compete in the AMA/CCS program.
