INTRODUCTION

Here we are... Alone at last. We thought you might like to know a little about Hamish. So this is the scoop, the big news. Born blue with a rather fetching umbilical neck tie, in Scotland 1979 to Mum and Dad Campbell, he pinked up nicely. Skinned knees but no broken bones so far. He bit his tongue at 7yo and hasn’t stopped moving it since for fear of doing it again. Schooled in music performance, audio production, photography and pancake making. This portfolio by H Campbell Photography (HCp) contains commissions for companies as diverse as Hamish’s own experience and training. It spans from luxury spa retreats and furniture retailers, to heritage whisky brands and independent jewellers. These images demonstrate a range of photographic and creative disciplines such as on location lifestyles to studio product photography. Used in everything from big budget above the line campaigns to email newsletters for a range of international and domestic clients, this body of work represents a year at HCp.

T H E A M E R I C A N C L U B To stay at Wisconsin’s The American Club is to be immersed in unparalleled All American luxury. Boasting a first class golf course, a luxurious spa, nature reserve, stables and the very best in fine dining, it is little wonder that The American Club is the only resort in the Midwest to be awarded AAA Diamond Hotel status. Owned by the Kohler Co. the second largest production company in the US, these images were commissioned by The American Club and Kohler Co to capture the resort at its very best. The photographs have been used across both print and online media.

The distance from Edinburgh, UK, to Kohler, US, is 3618.7 Miles, that’s around 19,008,000ft, if we turned that into real feet we would need 9,504,000 people... So, if we stood the population of Sweden ticktack-toe style we could whisper a message from here to there... Possibly not the most cost effective

messaging service...

Ronald Johnstone Thurso Ronald is a Patient Representative on the Scheduled Care Programme Board. “I retired in March 2011 after 27 years as a Parish Minister in Thurso. I first got involved with the Service when it was conducting a national consultation and seeking feedback. Afterwards I was asked to become a member of the Scheduled Care Programme Board as a Patient Representative. I feel I have an understanding of how local folk think and what they want and need but I am also aware of the difficulties of providing services in a rural area. It has been a busy year but it is rewarding to start to see the roll out of the new direct patient booking line, for the Patient Transport Service.

Rosie Smith Edinburgh

Agnes Cook The Western Isles

Rosie has been a patient of the Accident and Emergency services. She is with Gerry Egan, the Paramedic Clinical Director. “I have used the A&E Service a couple of times in recent years. And although I’ve been very grateful for the quick attention of the Ambulance Service, I felt that there were improvements the staff could make in the way they had spoken to me. I decided to make a comment on the Patient Opinion website about my experience. The Service invited me in to talk through what happened with Gerry. I felt comfortable and free to say what I needed to, and I now feel very validated and understood.”

Agnes has also been a patient of the Accident and Emergency services. She now lives with her daughter Catriona Cook. Agnes re_ceived care from Paramedics Roddy MacDonald and Sine Nicolson. “My mum fell ill when I was on holiday. My brother had been looking after her and she had got progressively breathless. Following a home visit by Dr Walker, he called the ambulance. The Paramedics were fantastic. They helped to stabilise her and got her to the hospital very quickly. She has heart failure and the build-up of fluid was causing her significant difficulties with breathing. Mum was strong enough to allow the consultant to take the fluid away. Since then, Mum has moved in with me, and although she has suffered a couple of falls since, the Paramedics have been able to treat her at home.”

The Old Course Hotel demands their imagery matches their Gold Class 5 star standard. With multiple outputs over various medias, the images have to be flexible, being used in web advertising, email footers, homepage content, printed advertising, sell sheets, internal promotional packs, TV adverts, hold pages and printed press. The images on these pages represent a slice of the output from the Hotels portfolio. Everything from interiors and exteriors, from spa and golf product to food dishes, from customer experience to visual representations of Luxury Packages (above: The Sugar and Spice getaway package), from aspirational promotional adverts (see page 35) to the internal promotional Calendar (see page 36-37) sent to existing suppliers and clients of the sales and marketing department, all have to be shot and delivered on time on budget and on message. Each image has to work with those taken before and those planned after so as to build a bank of photographs that the hotel can draw on when creating promotional material in the future.

‘ I am very flattered that The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews have chosen to recreate my painting, Elegy for a Dead Admiral’ ‘To me, the game of life and love is played out on the beaches because that’s where some go to fall in love. The beaches of Fife have been a constant inspiration to me and I’m delighted that my work has become an inspiration to others. I am very flattered that The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews have chosen to recreate my painting, Elegy for a Dead Admiral, and hope that the beautiful landscapes on offer in Scotland are never forgotten.” Jack Vettriano Artist

Inspired by the paintings of Jack Vettriano, this image kick-started a series of events orchestrated by creatives Bray Leino at The Old Course Hotel. The first being the above quote from the painter himself to accompany the image. The second was an invitation to Mr Vettriano from the hotel to hang an exhibition through out the hotel over the Valentines week promotions. The third was a book signing by Mr Vettriano at the hotel. All of this then culminated with a VIP black tie dinner and auction in aid of Maggies Cancer Care Charity. On the ballot was the original painting Lets Twist Again by Jack Vettriano and a signed print of the image shot by HCp for The Old Course Hotel.

FETTES COLLEGE

Established in 1870 as a boarding and day school for children aged 7-18, Fettes College is situated in stunning woodland grounds just outside Edinburgh’s city centre. The school has a reputation for promoting academic excellence, as well as fostering qualities such as confidence, respect, and independence in its students. These photographs capture the grandeur of the college’s architecture and its extensive grounds, and have been used throughout the college’s promotional materials for both print and web.

Among the school’s impressive alumni is Ian Flemmings most famous character James Bond. As noted in James’s obituary in ‘You Only Live Twice’ he attended Fettes College (his fathers old school) after his expulsion from Eton. It reads: ‘the atmosphere was somewhat Calvinistic, and both academic and athletic standards were rigourous. Nevertheless, though inclined to be solitary by nature, he established some firm friendships among the traditionally famous athletic circles at the school. By the time he left, at the early age of seventeen, he had twice fought for the school as a light-weight and had, in addition, founded the first serious judo class at a British public school.’

Around 5 billion litres of milk are sold in Britain each year and we consume an average of 1.6 litres each a week. On top of that, 6 billion litres go into dairy products such as cheese, butter and dried milk powder, which is a vital component of many other food products. All in all, we buy enough dairy products every year to fill nearly 4,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

‘His work is not only of the highest standard but it always delivers that something else’ It has been a genuine pleasure to have worked with Hamish Campbell. I first gave him the opportunity to be site photographer at 2 major SECC food exhibitions for Fife Creamery Ltd, which the company then used the finished images for web site and company advertising features. Indeed we now have some outstanding blown up images placed around the company’s premises in Fife. From here Hamish produced a fulsome range of on-site pictures which focused mainly on the people that worked within our organisation. His work is not only of the highest standard but it always delivers that something else that sets great photographs apart from good one’s. For contemporary photography see Hamish Campbell!
