This past year, Chicago’s highend fashion community got a lot cheekier with the opening of Ted Baker London’s flagship store in the Midwest in the heart of the shopping district on 1009 North Rush Street. For the last 25 years, Ted Baker has showcased mens and womenswear collections of uncompromising quality and brilliance all over the world, and now, Chicago finally gets its taste of Ted… and they’ve been celebrating it all year long! In 1987, fashion designer Ted Baker began establishing a name for himself in Glasgow in becoming what he describes as a “shirt specialist” around town, crafting men’s shirts with an immense passion for creating something beautiful, practical, and durable. Following a very inspirational fishing trip, Baker decided to think big; within a year he would be branding his own name and opening up stores in various places throughout the United Kingdom. With a focus on quality, an eye for detail, and a quirky sense of humor, Baker’s fashions became high in demand among the isles of Britain

and soon all over Europe. In 1995, the Ted Baker brand broke out onto the global fashion scene even further with the release of its very first women’s line, Ted Baker Woman. Today, Ted Baker London is a favorite among celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood and has proven to be one of the fastest growing UK based brands with 185 stores throughout thirteen countries in the world. Despite the immense success and notoriety, Baker’s initial ideal has never wavered. It simply grows. In December of 2012, Ted Baker Chicago officially opened to the public at its Rush street location. At the official launch party in February of 2013, the cheeky spirit of the Ted Baker team was unmistakable as a little bit of London was brought to Chicago for the celebration.
