Nayland Farmers’ Market The first farmers' market of the present time was started in Bath in Somerset some 16 years ago and it is still going today. In fact it is one of the largest in the country. 16 years later the farmers' market has arrived in Nayland. The market will be held on the 3rd Saturday in each month at the Village hall off Church Street, Nayland. Entry will be free of charge. There will be around 20 stalls manned by local farmers and other local food producers drawn from Nayland and the surrounding district with traders coming from an area no greater than 25 miles from the village. The food on sale will therefore be fresh, not blighted by excessive travelling miles and will be sold by the people who reared it, grew it, cured it, cooked it or generally produced it and who will be able to answer any questions about its content or provonance. One thing that can be guaranteed is that there will be no horseflesh in any of the burgers or sausages offered for sale there. There will be beef, pork, lamb, home made cakes, hand made bread with only flour, water, yeast and salt, no preservatives or other rubbish. There will be oven ready meat pies, Jams, marmalades, chutney, chocolate, fruit & veg, honey, cheese, sausages, crafts, specialist teas, specialist coffees, and many others. There will also be a tea bar offering high quality tea, coffee, home made cakes, filled rolls, soups and the chance for a chat and a sit down. Farmers' Markets usually prove to be local community assets and the hope is that this one will too. The traders will be doing their very best to produce a variety of high quality food, drinks and crafts at prices which are attractive because there will be no wholesalers or middle men to take a cut. Traders will be relying on the local villagers to support their efforts. This is Nayland's market, it needs Naylands support. Any producers interested in having a stall ring 07513 464 567
