As a widely sought-after guest lecturer himself, and certainly one of the foremost thinkers in the applied linguistics field, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to name our Lecture Series after Leo. The Leo van Lier Lecture Series will aim to bring pre-eminent scholars in the fields of applied and educational linguistics to campus to address faculty and graduate students regarding current topics and issues in applied and educational linguistics and in language education. We also hope to be able to stream and/or record many of these speakers so that our alumni can take part in the series as well. See to view past and upcoming speakers. You may honor Leo's memory by making a donation to the Leo van Lier Lecture Series Fund. Give online or mail your checks to: MIIS Institutional Advancement Office 460 Pierce St. Monterey, CA 93940.
