Prairie Ridge Exploration Day

Fall asleep under the stars where the weather’s always perfect! Explore science in a fun, exciting environment. After dinner, you’ll watch a planetarium show and participate in hands-on activities. Fall asleep in the planetarium under a cloudless sky of beautiful stars. The next day you’ll wake up, eat breakfast, watch a “Science Live!” program and explore Zoom In. Prairie Ridge is the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science’s off-site field station where you can learn about sustainable living and experience the natural world. The site features 38-acres of restored prairie, lowland forest and wetlands through which several hiking trails intersect. Entertainment Technology 101 Learn the secrets of green screen movie making, create an animation, and record your own music at this exciting event! Girls will earn the Entertainment Technology badge from the It’s Your World—Change It! Journey series. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult. Lay Down the Law! Do you want some real-life courtroom drama? Polish your advocacy skills while learning what it takes to become a successful lawyer and work on some Journey activities with the UNC Women in Law group. You will be able to talk to law students to learn what law school is really like while you put on your own mock trial in the UNC School of Law's Courtroom!
