Renew Your Troop Online

As a Troop Leader, you can renew your girls through the online Member Community (MyGS) using your troop funds. Be sure parents have given written permission to renew all girls for the upcoming year.

To Get Started: Go to mygs.girlscouts.org. Click on Login in the upper-right-hand corner. If this is your first time logging in, click the “Forgot Password” button. You should receive password reset instructions in your email. If you do not receive an email please email us at info@girlscoutsmoheartland.org.

If you’re already registered as a troop leader, you can renew your troop members!

Renew Your Household First: Before you renew the members of your troop, you must renew yourself and the individuals in your household that are continuing. Once your household members are renewed, you can renew other members of the troop through the My Troops tab (starting at step 1 below). Do not register both your troop and your family in one transaction as this may cause registration issues.

Renew Your Troop Next:

1. To begin renewing your troop, click “My Troops,” then select the name of the troop you would like to renew from the drop down menu.

2. Select the check box next to members you want to renew. You can renew all at once or one at a time if any members are undecided. If you don’t see a girl or adult on your troop roster, try clicking the “Show/Hide inactive members” text at the top of your page.

3. Add Renewals to the cart by clicking “Add Renewal.”

4. Make sure renewal information is correct for each member, then add payment details.

5. Click submit! You will receive an email receipt and your troop will be ready for the next year of adventures!

• Payments can be accepted online via credit or debit card, program credits, or Financial Aid*

* Girls should be renewed by parents if requesting Financial assistance.

1. Click the Troop Name you would like to renew

4. Click “Renew” to confirm the information and checkout

2. Select the members you would like to renew

3. Adults should renew their role at this time by selecting the check box

Do not click this box unless you are positive a member is not returning.

Troop Name

From troop meetings to cookie booths to fun trips and events— nothing’s better than having families as Troop Helpers!

Girl Scouts is a

Family Affair

Troop Helpers play an important role in aiding leaders to ensure girls have safe and fun experiences at meetings and beyond. Each troop may utilize a Troop Helper differently, but all Troop Helpers must be registered, background checked members. This includes completing mandated reporter training and signing a Volunteer Agreement before assisting the troop and interacting with girl members. These volunteers count towards your volunteer-to-girl ratios for meetings and outings and can help all girls, not just their own.

Registered parents can help in many ways.

Ask parents or caregivers how much free time they have each week – whether it’s 30 minutes or two hours – and think about how you may be able to use their help. Could they arrive early and set up activity stations before the meeting? Could they chaperone on a day trip or overnight event? Think about ways you need help and don’t be afraid to delegate tasks.

Do they have a job that relates to one of the four program pillars of Girl Scouting (STEM, Life Skills, Outdoors, or Entrepreneurship)? Could they lead an activity around what they do? Could they be a guest speaker and answer questions the girls may have about the job?

Inquire about their skills and think about ways you could use their help with the troop. Can they keep track of troop finances? Can they put together a group chat for all the parents in the troop? Can they work with you to plan an outing with the girls? The possibilities are endless!

FAQs Spring Renewal

What is Spring Renewal, when does it start, and why should we participate?

Spring Renewal is an exciting time for Girl Scouts! On this day, GSUSA opens membership renewal for all councils so that girls can renew their membership in the spring to get a head start on all the fun for the next year. Participating in Spring Renewal offers incentives for your girls and your troop, allows your girls to continue in Girl Scouts without missing a beat in the fall, and helps GSMH get a leg up on planning for the upcoming year!

What is a Legal Troop? If I am not a Legal Troop, can I still receive the Spring Renewal Incentives?

At Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland, a legal troop consits of 2 registered and screened volunteers in active status and 3 registered girls. If you are not a legal troop by March 31st, your troop will not be eligible for Troop incentives, but any girl who renews and qualifies will be able to earn incentives, patch, and participate in the patch design contest.

Can I pay for all Adult Renewals with troop funds? Can I use cookie credits/program credits to renew my adult membership?

Adults who are registered and regularly participate or hold leadership roles in a troop can be renewed with troop funds. Adults can be an investment for your troop who maintain adult to girl ratios, support girl ambition, and serve in leadership roles. Adults cannot be renewed with cookie credit or fall funds. Program credits are non-transferrable and belong to the girl listed on the credit.

What if a girl participated in the 2024 cookie program but has decided not to come back for 2025? Can I get a refund for a membership if I pay, and they decide not to continue?

If a girl participates in the 2024 Cookie Program, she is considered an active member of Girl Scouts and will need to renew for the 2025 membership year in order for the Troop to receive the 100% Troop Renewal status. If members have decided not to join in the next year, please do not renew them. Memberships cannot be refunded.

Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland

Can I participate in Spring Renewal with cookie credits from the 2024 Cookie Season? If I lost fall Funds/Cookie Credits from the past product programs is there a way for me to access those funds? Can I use another girl’s Cookie Credits to renew?

Cookie Credits that girls have earned for the 2024 Cookie Program are still being processed and are going to hit email inboxes over the summer! Because of this, Cookie Credits earned during this cookie season can not be used for Spring Renewal. If you are missing your Fall Funds or Cookie Credits from previous years, please email us at info@girlscoutsmoheartland.org and we will do our best to help you locate them. Program credits are non-transferable, meaning they belong to the girl that originally earned them and cannot be moved to another girl.

How do I renew my volunteer role with my membership?

Volunteers should renew their roles when they go to renew their membership! After you select the box that says membership in your MYGS, also select the check box located next to the volunteer role. This will add the volunteer role renewal in your cart! You will see two items in your cart, but you will only be charged by membership added, not role. Please note volunteer roles are appointed by GSMH on a yearly basis. Renewal of a role does not guarantee the volunteer the ability to serve in that role.

Can I renew with Extended Year Membership? If a girl gets added to my troop does that count towards my 100% Renewal?

Extended year membership is only offered for unregistered girls and adults with no active membership or previous registrations. Extended year membership is offered for a limited time between April and August for MY25 and is provided at the discounted price of $35. A girl added to your troop with an extended year membership will not count toward your 100% renewal as they do not have a full annual membership for the previous year. New girls who register with Extended year memberships may start participating with their troop immediately, but will not count as a renewed membership until October 2024 and therefore are ineligible for incentives.

As a Troop Leader, am I allowed to apply for financial aid for all of my members?

Financial aid should only be requested on a girl by girl basis by parents or guardians. Parents who need to request financial aid will need to log into their myGS account and process the renewals for their household. At payment, an option to select financial aid will appear. Troop Leaders should not request Financial Aid in the troop renewal check out process.
