The Inaugural Geraldyne Zimmerman Scholarship Gala The Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina sponsored the inaugural Geraldyne Zimmerman Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29th, at The Cinema in Orangeburg. It was a formal, adults-only fundraiser. Part of the proceeds from the event supported the creation of The Geraldyne Zimmerman Scholarship Fund. Beginning next year, two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to two graduating members of the GSESC council who have been accepted and enroll at South Carolina State University, Claflin University or Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. The gala was a huge success for the establishment of the scholarship and a suiting tribute honoring the legacy of Mrs. Z.
