Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction On the evening of March11th GSESC gathered in exquisite style to celebrate the 2017 Women of Distinction gala at SiMT in Florence, SC. The evening presented with a tasty and beautiful spread of heavy hors d'oeuvres. There was a lovely and lively crowd in attendance and a chance to hear each of the honorees’ own stories. Girl Scouts of Eastern SC also awarded the Mary Dean Brewer scholarship. Unique and fine items up for auction topped off the event perfectly. The 2017 honorees are: Amanda Bruorton of Myrtle Beach, Tressa Gardner of Darlington, Mary Jeffries of Elloree, Nancy Mace of Charleston, Karen Ryan of Hilton Head, SC. Congratulations to all the 2017 Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction honorees. Bill Yonce was an incredibly entertaining auctioneer for the night and Bill Pickle brought a celebrity presence with his one-on-one Facebook Live camera interviews with each of the honorees on the red carpet.

Legislative Page Program March 6-9, 2017 Columbia, SC The South Carolina Girl Scout Honorary Legislative Page Program is an opportunity for Girl Scouts in high school to investigate how our government works. Girls who participate in the South Carolina Honorary Legislative Page Program spend three days working as a Page at the Statehouse in Columbia, SC. This working experience is supplemented with Leadership Journey activities and training on legislative protocol and procedure. They also get a chance to work and network with Girl Scouts throughout South Carolina.

Pictured above: Girl Scouts of both SC councils (Mountains to Midlands and Eastern SC) with their dinner speaker, Senator Katrina Shealy at the kickoff dinner for the Honorary Legislative Page Program in Columbia, SC, March 2017.

Women new to the SC Senate and House are pinned by SC Girl Scouts with their honorary “Troop 912” pins. This is done every year during Page Week.

“What a great program! I was able to participate in this program many years ago. I'm very happy to see that it is still being offered to the girls of SC.” ~ Nikki Griggs Massey

Please support our military troops by sending them a taste of home with the donation of cases of Girl Scout Cookies. Each case is $48 but you can donate as many cases as you’d like and your wallet can stand! This is a great way for businesses to get involved and know that the service personnel who are far from home are getting a special delivery of Girl Scout cookies. Donations are tax deductible and aside from your receipt or donation statement, we will make sure that it is wellpublicized on our end via our website, email blasts, social media posts and at the Birthday Bonanza at Patriots Point on April 29th, 2017 from 3-9 pm.
