The 2023 class of Gold Award Girl Scouts celebrated their achievements on Saturday, April 15, with the annual Gold Award Celebration and Brunch at The Worthington Hotel. With Jennifer Trevino, executive director of Leadership Fort Worth, serving as emcee, the Girl Scouts and their friends and families heard about her time as a young woman in Girl Scouts.

Keynote speaker, Lynda Clayton, a 2022 Gold Award Girl Scout and GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship recipient, shared wisdom with the audience around the Girl Scout Law and her experience earning her own Gold Award.

“I end my time with you today with a challenge: Don’t forget the little sisters. You’ve achieved something amazing, and you should be beyond proud of yourself, but your journey doesn’t stop here. You now have an incredibly special opportunity. You can live the lessons the Girl Scouts and the Gold Award have taught you so when a future sister looks up at you she sees the embodiment of the Girl Scout Law…a moral code…a way of life…and she’ll say, ‘I want to be like you. I want to be a Gold Award Girl Scout.’”

Spring/Summer 2023

Women of Distinction Fort Worth

Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains celebrated the accomplishments of this year’s Women of Distinction honorees at an awards ceremony and luncheon on May 10 at Hurst Conference Center.

The annual event brings together and recognizes a group of purpose-driven leaders in business, government, education, and philanthropy, who, like our Girl Scouts, are dedicated to service and leadership.

“This year’s Women of Distinction honorees exemplify our community’s diverse leaders. We are thrilled to honor them as we raise funds for today’s Girl Scouts here in Tarrant County,” says Becky Burton, CEO of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. “Bringing together leaders throughout our community, including one of our own young Girl Scouts, shows that there is still so much good in this world.”

TCEF invited artist Willie Cole to share his compelling concept of “Artcycling” with the Fort Worth community. Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains is joining others in the community to collect 20,000 water bottles and then collaborate in creating a 30-ft. sculpture of a giant man.

This STEM-focused “Artcycling” project will turn trash into art, teach students to lessen the impact of plastics on our environment, and empower students in creative ways.

Drop off your empty 16.9 oz. water bottles with caps at the Fort Worth or Southlake Girl Scout office locations by August 1.
