and Leisure Facilities COMPLIMENTARY USE OF THE SPA Within the hotel, residents have complimentary use of our Spa complex, the ideal way to relax after a day of walking in the beautiful countryside, shopping in historic Chester, exploring historic houses or working on business in the area. We have two good 18 hole golf courses within a few minutes drive of the Hotel. Horse riding and fishing can be arranged locally, as well as white water canoeing and a range of other activities.

Corporate Entertainment “Business doesn’t have to be all work” Do business over lunch, entertain your customers over dinner, or celebrate with your employees with a special evening. Build relationships with a barbecue on our terrace, perhaps with a jazz band playing, or take a canal trip, and enjoy refreshments on board. Falconry is a spectacular way to show your guests the best that Wales has to offer. Not only can you watch the magnificent birds of prey flying free over the Vale of Llangollen, you can handle them and work with them. Perhaps you might enjoy being one man and his dog - with a herd of ducks! Try your hand at archery, or the seemingly refined game of croquet, which brings out the competitive instinct in all players. For a more formal occasion, we can help you plan dinners and menus created by our award winning chefs followed by your choice of entertainment. If your staff have been working hard and the results have been good, reward them with dinner, disco or live band, or give them the chance to win millions at the Casino night. Combine meetings with entertainment, so you can relax and unwind before they set out to achieve their targets for you. We can offer you the best in locations, the best in food and service, and lots of ideas for entertaining your guests.

Railway or even the Snowdon Mountain Railway. You can potter around charming towns and villages, explore our rugged coastline, feel soft sand between your toes, or attend the many events taking place all year round.

If you prefer a more relaxed pace, you can visit one of many castles – Beaumaris, Caernarfon and Conwy are some of the most popular - or sit back and relax on one of our scenic railways – Ffestiniog, the Welsh Highland

It is safe to say that Llangollen and the Dee Valley have the richest collection of myths and legends, historical figures, stunning landscapes and family based activities of anywhere else in Wales.

Spectacular vistas at all times of the year are the first thing you notice when you enter North Wales. Breathtaking views from The Horseshoe Pass leading to a land of mountains, valleys, waterfalls. North Wales is as different from South Wales as chalk & cheese, there are no mines and very little industry so the beautiful vistas remain in pristine condition as they have done over millions of years.

HISTORICAL - Both KING ARTHUR and ELIZABETH I “loved it here” History North Wales may be small but it’s packed with history both ancient and industrial. King Arthur it is alleged came from this part of Wales, The Holy Grail, Crucis Abbey, Dinas Bran Castle, slate mines, copper mines, motor museum. Travel deep underground by train through old mines, or sail through the deep underground river into spectacular caverns.

Historic Homes BODIDRIS HALL, frequented by Queen Elizabeth I, has a stunning bedroom where she stayed named after her. PLAS NEWYDD 18TH CENTURY HOUSE, home of the “Ladies of Llangollen” with gothic features and stunning views over Snowdonia. PLAS MAWR one of the best preserved Elizabethan Town houses in Britain. NANT CLWYD Y DRE (the oldest town house in Ruthin) it was built in 1435 not long after Ruthin was burned down by Owain Glyndwr. ERDDIG HALL - A fascinating house, which contains the National Ivy collection and country park. PORTMEIRION - village made famous by Patrick McGoohan in the TV series “The Prisoner”. RUG CHAPEL AND LLANGAR CHURCH - 17th century chapel, be wowed by its decorative flourishes, and zany style to infuriate Puritan notions of the time. VALLE CRUCIS ABBEY - A visit to this fascinating site evokes the lives of Cistercian Monks, and is situated in the valley of the Horseshoe Pass.

Famous Gardens North Wales is full of gardens. So many, in fact, you’d be forgiven for wondering where one ends and the next one starts. Things grow bigger and better in our great outdoors, too. It’s our climate that does it, being so close to the gulf stream. Which could explain why there are 18 record-breaking trees at Bodnant Gardens and why Dibleys nursery has picked up 18 gold awards at the Chelsea Flower Show. You won’t be surprised that Portmeirion has plants usually found in the Brazilian rainforest growing happily outdoors and that Medwyn Williams’ vegetables have won him ten gold medals at Chelsea or that Erddig’s crop of apples is so big they have to throw a festival in its honour.
