l Carnaval de Mérida es la fiesta más esperada del año y representa una de las tradiciones con mayor arraigo entre los yucatecos. El Nuevo Carnaval busca darle una nueva identidad al evento más grande de la Ciudad con base en un rediseño con nuevas atracciones y zonas de esparcimiento en Plaza Carnaval así como la presentación de espectáculos de primer nivel y una atractiva cartelera de conciertos con artistas de talla nacional e internacional. El tema de este año es Flora y Fauna, con el cual se pretende aprovechar el alcance e importancia del evento para dar un mensaje ecológico en medio de la fiesta y aportar algo más que la diversión: un carnaval con contenido, tratando de generar conciencia de forma alegre y creativa en el Pabellón Sustentable dentro de Plaza Carnaval. Entre otras innovaciones para este año destacan Chiquiland (Zona Infantil), Mercado Carnaval (Zona para emprendedores), Zona de deportes extremos, la Gran Vaquería (Lunes Regional), las mega carpas para sombra en los desfiles y los espectáculos musicales “Sonidos del Corazón” y “Mayá y la semilla de la sabiduría”. Aunque las fechas oficiales son del 27 de febrero al 6 de marzo, el Carnaval de Mérida 2019 inicia con tres eventos de coronación en distintos puntos de la Ciudad. 8

The New Carnival aims to rebrand the largest event in the city. Redesigned and boasting new attractions and recreation areas in the venue, Plaza Carnival, the New Carnival offers top-level shows and an attractive billboard of concerts with national and internacional artists. This year's theme is Flora and Fauna, which aims to take advantage of the scope and importance of the event to give an ecological message in the middle of the Fiesta and contribute more than fun: a carnival with message, trying to generate awareness in a cheerful and creative way, featured in the Sustainable Pavilion inside Plaza Carnival. Other innovations for this year include Chiquiland (Children's Area), Carnival Market (Area for entrepreneurs and vendors), Extreme Sports Zone, the Gran Vaquería (Monday Regional Rodeo), mega tents provide shade during the parades, and the musical shows “Sonidos del Corazón” (Sounds of the Heart”) and “Mayá y la Semilla de la Sabiduría” (“Maya and the Seed of Wisdom.” Although the official dates are from February 27 through March 6, the Mérida Carnival 2019 begins with three prior coronation events in different parts of the City.

1. PASEO DE MONTEJO: -calle 47 con 58- Su construcción se inició en 1897 y concluyó a principios del Siglo XX. Es la más amplia y bella avenida de Mérida y una de las más hermosas de México. / (Calle 58 and Calle 47): Its construction began in 1897 and concluded in the early years of the twentieth century. It is the largest and most beautiful boulevard in Mérida and one of the most beautiful in Mexico. 2. PALACIO CANTÓN: (año 1911) –Paseo Montejo y calle 43- Museo Regional de Antropología. Este palacio construido por el arquitecto italiano Enrico Deserti, también constructor del teatro “Peón Contreras”, es de los más admirables de Mérida. In the QUADRANGLE OF THE NUNS there are four imposing buildings in the central courtyard. The entrance is through an arch. The walls are made of stones carved into lattices and panels. Visitors can see figures of carvings of huts with feather roofs, birds, monkeys, intertwined snakes, and the omnipresent figure of Chaac. These façades were stuccoes and painted with bright colors.
