Editorial It is that time of the year when thoughts turn to our families and we all make plans for what we will be doing over the Christmas period. Is it our turn to visit this year or will the hordes be descending upon us, expecting poor mum to prepare a dinner for fourteen? Have we remembered to buy the right number of presents and did soand-so send us a Christmas card last year?

May I take this opportunity to thank all those that have contributed to the Newsletter and/or the Magazine during 2013. Special thanks to those who entered the annual photographic competition, with you help we are raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support with sales of the 2014 calendar. Have you bought your copy yet? They are still available, so see the item below. Entries are now open for the 2014 photographic competition, together we can have some fun and raise money for the President's charity. Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and a very prosperous new year.

In the build up to Christmas many of you will be out helping Ray Hill Round Table with the santa sleigh and some will be actually comms@41club.org organising it, as you no longer have a Table to do it. Tradition is a very important part of our family lives and long may it be so, but we must also, at this time, plan for the future. 2014 is a whole new year with plenty of new opportunities and new challenges.

The Day We Went To Derry/Londonderry a very significant flag (and you know we all love our flags over here). In itself it was just marvellous to see a 400 year old flag still hanging in a church, but this was a pre-union flag and was missing the Saint Patrick's cross. This said to me how important it is to try and maintain, grow and do whatever I can On arrival in Derry/Londonderry we travelled across the to keep the I in GB&I. Anyway I digress. We met Tony who passed on the thanks of Round Table and 41 in up with our guide for the day, local historian, former National Derry/Londonderry. We had the chance to visit the Turner Councillor Region 3, current area 3 Chairman and vice Prize entries and, as this was the first time out of England, we Chairman of Londonderry 41 Club, Mr Tony Henderson. Tony all went in. This was a cultural day out and a bit of art seemed took no time in stating the route we would be taking. He gave to be appropriate. All I can say is if sending this stuff over here us a detailed and very informative tour of the Walls of hoping that we can dispose of it in an accident or other means Londonderry and all the history behind them. It is one of only won’t work, you can keep it as we all agreed it was not art for two walled cities in Europe that have never been broken, us. “hence the name maiden city”. It was an early start but meeting up with the 13 members of Holywood 41 Club, the chat and banter on the way was great.

The city’s cathedral was impressive and to be able to hold a 400 year old gold chalice in my hand, that is still in use today, was very special. I was a bit worried that old Table habits would return and the treasures would make their way to Holywood. They didn’t thanks to the fact that as we have all got older the hassle would be too much. Also hanging in the Cathedral was

Euro 48s Weekend

For many years Northwich 348 Round Table has participated in the Euro 48's Weekend. It proved so popular that the 41ers also organised an annual gathering. But with declining Table numbers the event was getting smaller so this year The Euro Tables and 41s combined for a joint event which was organised by Northwich's twinned town of Dole in France. As the photos show a great time was had by all and joint number weekends certainly seem to be the future.
