A Pittsburgh area native, Tom Richards led the 1973-74 NCAA team in assists and teamed with Kirk Bruce to give the Panthers a pair of dead-eye shooting guards. Pittsburgh stretched its home win streak to a school-record 27 games when Richards hit a 40-foot heave at the buzzer to defeat Ohio.
