Kappa Delta Sorority was founded at Longwood College on October 23, 1897. Our four founders were Mary Sommerville Sparos Henderick, Julia Tyler Wilson, Sara Turner White, and Lenora Ashmore Blackiston. We are the alpha chapter of Kappa Delta which means we are the very first chapter ever of National Kappa Delta. Our marble bench and sun dial can be seen outside the Rotunda.

The Modern Language Club is open to those students with an overwhelming love for the modern languages. The organization participates annually in Oktoberfest Weekend, the Chili Cook-off and the spirit of Christmas by caroling in modern languages. Nevertheless, the club also volunteers their services in off-campus activities. Some students visit the retirement homes, high school functions and are becoming involved with Operation Smile International.
