Winter Reading January 4–30 Youth Warm up with a good book at the Library! Sign up for the Winter Reading Program and log your reading to earn tickets for a chance to win one of our grand prizes. The Crochet for Charity program is in full swing! S o far, we have donated 22 baby blankets and 71 pet beds. This is an ongoing program, so bring in your donations anytime. We will accept items that are already completed or you can check out a bag with all the materials provided. Don’t crochet? N o worries! We will be hosting Crochet 101, a class were you can learn the basics on January 20 and February 17. Supplies will be provided by the Library, but feel free to bring your own. If you are interested in learning a language try our Mango Language database. Perhaps you would like to learn about photography, design, or home computing, then look no further than Lynda.com which has a wide variety of training opportunities. Maybe this is the year you are going to search your family history; we have a number of genealogy resources to help you. We are already planning our Summer Reading program, but in the meantime don’t forget to join our Winter Reading program that begins on Monday, January 4. As we celebrate President’s Day this month, it seems fitting to talk about the men that served our nation as president. Historian Don White will share a few remarks about the great and not so great presidents. This event is for adults and children ages 10 and up.

The Science Alliance is back at the Library for this hands-on presentation that will get kids charged up about electricity! T hey’ll build a human electric bridge while learning about safe static electricity. They will also learn how electricity flows and how circuits are created and broken. The Great Scott is coming to the Library for a magic show unlike any you’ve seen. S cott will suspend a volunteer in midair, pull coins from everyone’s noses, and turn the audience into monkeys.
