ilbao, la plus grande ville du nord de l’Espagne, est située sur la côte du Golfe de Gascogne. ilbao, the most important city in northern Spain, is located on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. Campo Viejo a été l’une des premières propriétés en Espagne à intégrer plusieurs mesures visant à produire des vins d’une manière plus respectueuse pour l’environnement : consommation réduite d’eau et d’énergie, traitement et réutilisation des eaux pour l’irrigation, réduction des rejets dans l’atmosphère, tri sélectif. Elle fut d’ailleurs la première propriété espagnole à obtenir la certification AENOR ISO 14064 pour son empreinte carbone. Cette certification lui permet aujourd’hui de mettre en avant son savoir faire et de mettre en confiance ses clients et ses visiteurs. Campo Viejo is a pioneer winery designed to be respectful with the environment : integration in its natural environment, minimum energy and water consumption, water treatment and recycling for irrigation, minimum emissions in the atmosphere, selective separation of waste. It is the first Spanish winery to obtain AENOR certification for its carbon footprint in accordance with the ISO 14064 standard, thus giving clients and consumers confidence in the global process.

DECOUVERTE ET INNOVATION / INNOVATIVE WINE TOURISM EXPERIENCES

Il a été édifié sur 6 caves souterraines datant des 15ème et 16ème siècles. L’une des caves a été aménagée en salle de dégustation et on y trouve également une chapelle datant de 1583. A l’intérieur de la propriété, le visiteur peut découvrir un musée archéologique qui rassemble de nombreux objets et outils retrouvés dans la région, vestiges de l’époque néolithique. A l’extérieur, des monuments funéraires sont encore visibles, datant de 4 500 à 5 000 ans avant JC. The Valdelana Family has been farming their vineyards in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa) since the 16th century. The winery was built over six underground cut stone cellars and a chapel or Calado de la Villa dated 1583 is still sitting there. Visitors can also discover an ethnographic museum showcasing numerous objects and ancient tools from the neolitic era. In the surroundings, gravestones dating from 4 500 b.c. are still visible.

The Villa-Lucía Wine Thematic Center is a multi-function space with climated tents in the gardens, a building housing a restaurant, a library, a wine shop, and a convention center with rooms for wine tasting, exhibitions, meetings and dinners.The wine culture and history are presented in an interactive space where guests can learn about wine secrets through sensorial experiences. Vinfo, the wine elf, invites visitors to enter “In a Dreamland”, an internationally awarded short film screened in a 4D room with special effects.This film unveils the secrets of Rioja to the spectators.

Ce vignoble de 80 hectares possède des caractéristiques exceptionnelles, grâce à son microclimat et à ses sols formés de couches de roches et de calcaire. Ces graves jouent un rôle fondamental dans la qualité du vin en agissant comme un filtre naturel qui régule l’apport en eau, le soleil et la chaleur dans les vignes. Ces qualités particulières permettent à la Finca Valpiedra, et c’est la seule en Rioja, d’appartenir à “Grandes Pagos de España” (Association des Grands Crus d’Espagne). Finca Valpiedra is located in the best area of the D.O. Ca. Rioja, in a spectacular meander of the Ebro River. The exceptional conditions of this 80 hectares vineyard come from its microclimate and type of soil formed by layers of boulders and limestone. These stones play a major role in the wine’s quality, as they act as a natural filter and supply the vines with the appropriate quantities of water, sunshine and warmth. These characteristics allowed Finca Valpiedra to be the only Rioja winery that belongs to the “Grandes Pagos de España” (Great Estates from Spain Association).

Pour cela, l’Association œuvre de différentes manières et édite notamment des ouvrages qui ont reçu une reconnaissance internationale : le Musée de la Culture du Vin, le Vin des Pharaons, le Calice des Mots et Le Cinéma du Vin. The Dinastía Vivanco Foundation for the research and dissemination of the Culture and History of Wine (promoted by Bodegas Dinastía Vivanco) is a non-profit organization which efforts are directed at achieving objectives as to highlight the rich historical and cultural legacy that wine has created over many centuries. To reach these objectives, the Foundation is active in several fields, including the editorial one. Un musée passionnant, abritant des vestiges de l’âge de fer retrouvés lors de fouilles sur le domaine, est également ouvert à la visite. Château Fombrauge is one of the oldest celebrated grand cru estates of Saint-Emilion. Its origins date back to the 16th century. This beautiful charterhouse is home to a permanent exhibition of many works of art and rare objects, including several musical instruments. Among these, a recently acquired Stradivarius violin, has pride of place. Château Fombrauge is in fact a venue for talented young musicians as well as for established violinists to meet, via the Cultural Institute created by Bernard Magrez, who owns the estate. Le chai à barriques et les cuves de fermentation découvertes sont abrités derrière de vastes murs en verre, offrant une sensation d’espace et de continuité avec l’extérieur. Dans le prolongement de la salle de dégustation et du chai gravitationnel, installé sur un promontoire de verre de 10 mètres de hauteur, un restaurant surplombe un amphithéâtre naturel formé par les vignobles avec la vue au loin, sur False Bay. Cocooned in a contemporary glass and concrete sphere, the deep open barrel cellar becomes apparent immediately as you enter the building and make your way to the slick, yet unadorned tasting lounge. Here massive walls of clear glass reveal a working cellar with ranks of wooden, open top fermenters and create a majestic sense of space through the outstretched views. Appointed in a 10 meter high glass promontory flowing from the wine tasting lounge and gravitational cellar, the restaurant is set against the amphitheatre of vineyards and False Bay in the distance.

Au sud, la façade principale offre au regard son architecture dépouillée du XVIème siècle, agrémentée de deux petites tours et d’un jardin aquatique. On y trouve une prestigieuse fontaine, jumelle de celle des jardins de Boboli, à Florence. Une terrasse splendide surplombe la ville, la cave et le “Orciaia”, avec ses jarres antiques d’huile d’olive, sont tout aussi remarquables. Since 1830 the Malenchini family runs this farm, which lays around the Villa Medicea of Lilliano (17 hectares cultivated with vineyards, 42 with olive groves). The main façade lies south in a very simple sixteenth century design and it is enclosed by two small towers preceded by a garden of water lilies. The prestigious fountain with statues is the twin of one in the Boboli Gardens in Florence. The splendid front terrace directly faces Florence. The cellar and the “orciaia”, with the ancient jars for olive oil are just remarkable!
