We are a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the public’s understanding and appreciation of the Smokies. Each year Smokies Life donates more than $2 million to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support educational, historical, and scientific programs. All proceeds generated through the sale of merchandise go to the park to support projects and services.

Smokies Life uses profits from sales and membership dues to:

• Operate 11 visitor contact stations in and around

• Fund a long-running water quality monitoring program at 43 sites across six watersheds in the park

• Provide staff and equipment for the park archives, library, and artifact collection

• Support Parks as Classrooms programs for area youth

• Provide funding for seasonal rangers and interns who lead interpretive and education programs for visitors and manage park wildlife

• Create new exhibits for park historic areas

• Sponsor historical demonstrations such as the operation of Cable and Mingus mills and sorghum-making

• Produce and distribute free educational and informational publications like the Smokies Guide park newspaper, campground maps, and fishing regulations

• Support Junior Ranger programs

• Support outdoor education for youth through Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont
