The Curve has won a ‘Patient Experience’ award

Designed by the award-winning artist and president of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art, Gerry Halpin MBE.

The Curve, the Trust’s headquarters and a unique, conference, training and meeting venue, has won an award in the ‘Patient Experience’ category at the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) 2016 Awards. The 2016 IHEEM Awards took place on 4-5 October at Manchester Central. The Patient Experience category recognises a hospital/Trust that has undertaken an estates investment that significantly improves the experience of patients and staff. The Curve, which opened in October 2015, is a great example of this in action.

to recovery pathways and mental wellbeing. The £4.5M building houses a library, café, lecture halls, educational spaces, forum areas, meeting rooms and a healthcare room. Its innovating design reflects a philosophy of long term care based around accessible, positive and meaningful community engagement. Contemporary art pieces, that were created alongside service users, families and staff, are on display throughout the building.

The Curve provides the perfect base for our Recovery Academy along with the excellent resources and technical facilities required to support the delivery of educational courses for people with mental health and substance misuse problems, their families and carers as well as health care professionals. The building also features a library where our Academy host their Shared Reading Group course. Further information about the award winners can be found here: www.healthcare-estates.com/ awards-shortlist/. Find out how to hire a room at The Curve, here: www.gmw.nhs.uk/the-curve.
