Specchi “The Wing” per Fiam, 2013 La collezione di specchi “The Wing” reinterpreta lo specchio e la magia del suo spazio. Il mistero di ciò che viene riflesso è trasmesso dalle tracce incise nella superficie, caratterizzate da un orientamento inusuale. L’ala dei sogni e dei desideri si riferisce alla funzione del risveglio che lo specchio rappresenta per noi. “Per risvegliare gli occhi dei dormienti” disse il bardo cieco, attribuendo allo specchio l’impronta di un segno dinamico sui volti di coloro che lo osservano. Questi specchi suggeriscono l’enigma del risveglio.
“The Wing” mirrors for Fiam, 2013 The Wing Mirror collection recreates the mirror and its magical space. The mystery of reflection is communicated by the traces inscribed on the surface of the unusually oriented form. The wing of dreams and desires refers to the function of awakening which the mirror performs for us. “To awaken the eyes of those asleep” said the blind bard, attributing to the mirror the imprinting of a dynamic mark on the faces of those who look into it. DANIEL LIBESKIND, B.ARCH. M.A. BDA AIA is an international figure in architectural practice and urban design. He is well known for introducing a new critical discourse into architecture and for his multidisciplinary approach. His practice extends from building major cultural and commercial institutions - including museums and concert halls - to convention centers, universities, housing, hotels, shopping centers and residential work. He also designs opera sets and maintains an object design studio. Born in postwar Poland in 1946, Mr. Libeskind became an American citizen in 1965.
He studied music in Israel (on the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship) and in New York, becoming a virtuoso performer. He left music to study architecture, receiving his professional architectural degree in 1970 from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. He received a postgraduate degree in History and Theory of Architecture at the School of Comparative Studies at Essex University (England) in 1972. He has received numerous awards and designed world-renowned projects including: the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Denver Art Museum,

È conosciuto per aver introdotto una nuova visione critica dell’architettura con un approccio multidisciplinare. La sua esperienza professionale si estende da edifici per grandi istituzioni culturali e private – inclusi musei e sale da concerto – fino a centri congressi, università, residenze, hotel, centri commerciali e ville. Ha inoltre realizzato scenografie per opere liriche e mantiene attivo un dipartimento di ricerca di industrial design. Nato nel dopoguerra in Polonia nel 1946, Libeskind è diventato cittadino americano nel 1965. Ha studiato musica in Israele
(America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship) e a New York diventando un solista acclamato. Ha lasciato la musica per dedicarsi a pieno allo studio dell’architettura conseguendo la laurea nel 1970 presso la Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art a New York. La ricerca continua di Daniel Libeskind per allargare i confini dell’architettura riflette il suo profondo interesse e coinvolgimento nella filosofia, nell’arte, nella letteratura e nella musica. Punto fondante della filosofia di Libeskind è l’idea che ogni costruzione si evolve attraverso l’energia umana, e che queste affrontino con coerenza

Daniel Libeskind’ s commitment to expanding the scope of architecture reflects his profound interest and involvement in philosophy, art, literature and music. Fundamental to Libeskind’s philosophy is the notion that buildings are crafted with the perceptible human energy, and that they address the greater cultural context in which they are built. Several of Daniel Libeskind’ s projects are currently under construction, among which
CityLife, project of re-qualification of the old fairgrounds district in Milan, which includes a new urban park, as well as residential, office, retail and cultural areas, and Zlota 44; a residential high-rise tower in Warsaw, Poland. Upon winning the World Trade Center design competition in February 2003, Daniel Libeskind was appointed as master plan architect for the site in New York City. Memory Foundations is now under construction. Daniel teaches and lectures at universities across the world. He resides in New York City with his wife and business partner, Nina Libeskind.
