It’s festival season again in Grapevine! GrapeFest is just a few weeks away, and once again the business community comes together to support the City and Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. We will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to our great City for 4 fun-filled days from Sept 13-16th. As always, we appreciate the support of the businesses, employees, and volunteers who help make our concession trailer and beer booths run successfully. If you are new to the Chamber or have not volunteered with the Chamber for a festival, we encourage you to get involved. Sign up for a shift, individually or with a group from your company. There are always a lot of laughs, great conversations, and networking that takes place during these volunteer times. You’ll have a chance to get to know the staff a little bit better, meet some of our Board members, and serve hundreds of visitors stopping by for cold drinks and fried pickles! I promise it will be well worth your time. We look forward to seeing you this month at GrapeFest! The Chamber has many programs and events coming up. Join us for our September Membership Luncheon as we host DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue. The luncheon will be at the Grapevine Convention Center from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). Catering will be provided by Bone Daddy’s and sponsored by Aviall, Inc. Reservations can be made by visiting the Chamber website Events Page and registering online. The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept 18th, or $40 after that date. There is a $5 fee for invoicing, and all reservations not canceled by 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 19th, will be billed.

Donating to Great Causes The Back to School Fair was a huge success and I wanted to thank everyone from our organization who participated. We couldn’t do this without YOU! Our volunteers gave out over 1400 school packs to the students in GCISD. Be sure to check out the Women’s Division Facebook page to see pictures from the event. Moving into September, we are looking forward to two big events. First, we have the KL birthday Bash, benefiting the Kathee Livengood Scholarship Fund. The Women’s Division is the presenting sponsor for this event and it is held at Sloan & Williams on September 6th. You can get more information on either the Chamber’s or Women’s Division websites. The next event is volunteering at the Beer Booths at GrapeFest during Sept 13th-16th. This will raise funds for our next project called Christmas Spirit. It is for disadvantaged seniors living within our community. Next! Save the date for December 1st for Elves on the Run. Its is a 5K fundraising event to be held at Oak Grove Park. Sponsorship opportunities are available! A couple dozen alumni attended the Doug Renfro luncheon, 18 alumni came to greet the new Leadership students on Orientation Day and 8 have signed up to help manage the new class during sessions. Battered & Beautiful This feisty, determined little committee celebrated their first year in business and it was a great success! Money was raised, food & beverages enjoyed alongside great music. It was a lot of fun for everyone! On September 4th, Battered & Beautiful will disperse their first grant for $5000. To GRACE Transitional Housing. Wow, Jenny & team, what great work you have done in just a year! Always be on the lookout for B&Bâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s next series of events that is likely to include food, yoga, some education, fellowship and fun.
