CHALLENGING LABOUR

Sheffield Council and General Elections

Thursday 7th May 2015

WORKING FOR THE COMMON GOOD MIKE HERBERT

Gleadless Valley council ward candidate I'm 59 and live in Gleadless. I’ve worked for the railways for most of my working life, having started at Tinsley Marshalling Yard in 1980. Gleadless Valley ward is an area of natural beauty, with stunning views and ample green spaces. But many families are really struggling after 5 years of coalition cuts. As your ward councillor my clear focus will be on the poorest and most vulnerable who need the most support. Only the Green Party challenges the cuts being forced on our communities – Labour are not opposing austerity. Big business and individual high earners must pay their fair share in taxation to fund vital public services. We can afford a public, not privatised, NHS and an education system that enables young people to reach their full potential.
