CARDBOARD Milk and juice cartons with plastic tops, cake boxes, washed paper-based disposable plates, cereal and biscuit boxes, paper bags, empty kitchen and toilet rolls, egg cartons, corrugated cardboard, and cardboard drink packaging may be put in the cardboard recycling bin. What to bring Mixed, construction, concrete, and tile waste brought to the stations must be sorted as instructed in the waste guide. Households and businesses are charged according to their respective rates. Contact the station’s personnel if you have any questions about sorting or unloading. It is strictly forbidden to bring waste material to the stations outside the opening hours. The stations receive waste materials from households and cottage owners free of charge as follows: Recyclable paper, cardboard, and glass as well as smallsized and scrap metal items, pressure-treated wood (up to 1 cubic meter), and discarded electrical devices and electronics (including fluorescent and energy-saving lamps). Also non-treated wood, twig, branch, and garden waste as well as normal household hazardous waste.

The Waste Management Station is a clean, almost odorless collection and sorting place where waste is handled in an orderly manner. Some of it goes directly to the landfill, some for further processing around Finland. Some of the old, non-repairable and non-recyclable waste materials passing through the waste management station become raw material for new products. The price of chargeable waste at the Ranua and Pello stations is defined by volume. When necessary, your load is therefore measured before disposal. The payment is made in cash; permanent business clients may also make a payment agreement. Napapiirin Residuum Oy does not accept grease and sand pit waste in Ranua. You may ask about the services at the local waste management companies.

Opening hours: Mon – Fri 7.00 – 15.00 Contact information: Kuusiselkä, Rovaniemi, tel. 0207 120 231.

METAL Large metal waste must be taken to the nearest waste station. Small metal objects, such as (washed out) tins, metal pots and pans, lids and tops should be taken to the eco point metal recycling bin. Aerosol containers, small batteries, electrical and electronic scrap, New Year tin and other heavy metals should not be taken to the metal recycling bin. BIOWASTE Decomposable, i.e. bio-waste left among mixed waste produces greenhouse gases, but when composted it produces high quality and nutrient-rich garden soil.
