WELCOME TO GPAC’S 2014 DEAKIN UNIVERSITY THEATRE SEASON Live performance…a world like no other...anything can happen... the unexpected often does happen…in a variety of colours and moods. To be part of an audience watching live theatre is a very special experience. It connects us, it brings us closer to new ideas and encourages us to look at the world in new ways. Truly great theatre can change your view of the world. And for 2014, we’ve brought together what promises to be a startling season of eight productions that will make you laugh, gasp and even shed tears – possibly all at the same time. GPAC’s 2014 Deakin University Theatre Season will take you on a journey to new and interesting places, while returning to some that may be familiar. It’s a year of great drama and entertainment. We’ve got everything including The Kitchen Sink...yes really! We’re mixing it up to present something for everyone, from classic comic theatre with The Importance of Being Earnest starring the legendary and colourful Nancye Hayes to sensational new work including Little Bird written for and starring the great Paul Capsis. Both these shows offer the only Victorian performances, so be sure to tell your friends and family! We’re also thrilled to include the sensational new show from a classic company, Circus Oz!, promising great family entertainment and plenty of laughs. Plus there’s a killer black comedy, a heart warming outback adventure and a new take on a classic Big Brother. As you read through the following pages I hope you will agree that there’s plenty of variety and you will not want to miss a single moment! Join with a friend, a partner, colleague or a social group and make it your regular date for a catch-up. Life is busy and sometimes it actually helps to have dates locked in.
