UNIVERSITY OF THE FRASER VALLEY VIEWBOOK 2021 – 22

FAR FROM ORDINARY 1

ON THE COVER:

“ UFV is such a welcoming community and it’s great to be in a place where your culture is valued. It’s proof that reconcilliation is achievable if we stay on this path. ” Holly Masten, first-year Bachelor of Arts student, is from the Hupa, Yurok, and Karuk peoples. She is pictured in UFV’s Indigenous Teaching Garden.

YOUR

TRA UFV supports Indigenous learners and continually seeks to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing. Our campuses are located on the territory of the Stó:lō peoples. We express our gratitude and respect for the honour of living and working in S’ólh Téméxw (Our Land). UFV’s coat of arms includes symbols of Stó:lō culture, local wildlife, and elements of the Fraser Valley landscape. The motto, “IYAQAWTXW,” is in the Halq’eméylem language of the Stó:lō and means “house of transformation,” reflecting UFV’s status as a place of intellectual evolution. ufv.ca/indigenous
