STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

GET CONNECTED

STUDENT UNION SOCIETY

& LEARN OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is a university transcript, in addition to your academic record, that provides official recognition for your outof-classroom primarily on-campus contributions and learning.

The UFV CCR is unique because it links directly to the University learning outcomes. Just like your program or classes have stated outcomes for your learning, so do the opportunities recognized by the CCR.

It documents and highlights your participation in almost 600 unique, exciting and outcomes-based learning opportunities including: • essential skill development training and workshops • volunteer opportunities • leadership positions • governance roles • work study positions • research assistant roles • and much more!

The CCR will enhance your resume, scholarship applications, and academic and career portfolios. It will help you market your experiences and skills to employers or graduate and/or professional programs—as well as apply for scholarships, grants, or bursaries. Most employers are looking for applicants with experience; students with a CCR can show university recognized and validated experience that will set them apart from the competition.

If there aren’t enough opportunities on campus for you, our CCR also extends to specific partner groups and organizations outside of UFV that offer opportunities that are also recognized on the CCR.

Getting involved in UFV’s Student Union Society (pictured opposite page) is a great to help other students and gain valuable experience for the future. Learn more at ufvsus.ca.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS There are over 70 clubs and associations to choose from at UFV. Just a few include: • Indigenous Student Council • English Student Association • Computing Student Association • Friends Without Borders • Pre-Med Club • Pre-Law Club • Pride

Over 9000 students are already engaged in co-curricular learning at UFV. Come join them!

• Psychology Student Association • Student Outdoor Life and Recreation Club

Want to hear what UFV students have to say about CoCurricular Record? Check out this video: ufv.ca/CCRvideo

• UFV Circle K Club • and many more!

“The CCR is a testament to the fact that UFV recognizes all the hard work, dedication, and countless hours students put into making the UFV community a better place for everyone each semester. I can honestly say that all my out-of-classroom work at UFV has easily taught me just as much as all my academic work. Now when I graduate, I’ll have a second official transcript to validate all those achievements.” — DEREK, FOURTH-YEAR BUSINESS STUDENT

I was at a larger university in Montreal for two years. I chose it for its reputation, but I struggled. My lectures could have up to 1200 students. My grades fell, and I no longer enjoyed attending classes. I seriously questioned whether I belonged in university. When I came to UFV, I planned to stay only long enough to complete a certificate. But I realized that I actually like learning. Everything is more personal at UFV, like how the professors know my name after the first week, and getting involved is simple. So I’ve transferred into the degree program. — DELANEY MINOR
