UFV recognizes and honours the contributions that Indigenous people have made, and continue to make, to our community. Our campuses are located on the unceded traditional territory of the Stó:lō peoples. We express our gratitude and respect for the honour of living and working in S’ólh Téméxw (Our Land). UFV supports Indigenous learners and continually seeks to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing.

OF

UFV’s coat of arms includes symbols of Stó:lō Indigenous culture, local wildlife, and elements of the Fraser Valley landscape. The featured motto, “IYAQAWTXW,” is in the Halq’eméylem language of the Stó:lō and means “house of transformation,” reflecting UFV’s mandate as a place of change — of intellectual and character transformation. Ski the local peaks or hike to a waterfall. Sample farm-fresh produce or soak in some hot springs. You’re also an hour away from Vancouver, with its sparkling beaches, towering mountains, and coastal culture.

CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS ON CAMPUS To celebrate Holi, the Indian festival of colours, students gathered on the green at UFV’s Abbotsford campus. The South Asian Studies Institute joined forces with UFV Student Life, the Sikh Student Alliance, the UFV International Student Association, and the UFV India student club to organize the event. In addition to a lively battle of colours, the celebration also featured free samosas and dance performances by UFV student groups.

UFV VALUES INCLUSIVITY

“ Living in residence was a great way to become part of a community. As a resident I was given opportunities to learn about other cultures, engage with my peers, and meet new people. As a resident assistant I was able to be a part of creating the same warm and welcoming community for the new students who came after me. Baker House is where I made lifelong friends with students from all around the world.” Lauren D., BA 2018

“ Getting involved in the UFV community was the best decision of my university career. I will leave UFV with lifelong friends, and a broad skillset that will help me in my personal life and pursuit of a career.” Hannah Y., BKin 2019

STEP 1.

CHOOSE YOUR PROGRAM UFV offers 17 bachelor’s degrees, three master’s degrees, and more than 100 certificate, diploma, and post-degree programs. Find a full list of our programs at ufv.ca/programs If you study full-time, a bachelor’s degree usually takes four years, a diploma two, and a certificate one. Many of the courses taken as part of one- or two-year programs will count toward a higher credential. This allows you to keep your options open by earning a one-year certificate or a twoyear diploma on the way to a full degree. The Future Students office is here to support your search for the perfect program. Stop by and chat about what you love, and we’ll help you narrow it down. We can answer questions and point you toward helpful information, too. CALL US: 1-888-823-8734 EMAIL US: INFO@UF V.CA
