November 2014

Fashion for fall, and for all When GottaGoGolf asked women designers to share images of their f avorite outf its f or f all golf , it was hardly a surprise that great looks quickly began showing up in the in-box. T he range of these outf its, however, might surprise women golf ers f rom the newbie to the avid club member. Some of the clothes could roam f rom boardroom to the f irst tee, others could team up with heels and go f rom the

18

th green to dinner, and

others would work with many other athletic pursuits. But the designers promise all of them will keep you swinging f reely and – with the right shoes, of course – walking comf ortably. I added one personal f avorite I f ound online at the back of this collection. And if you’ll visit the GottaGoGolf blog, you’ll f ind an inf ormative post about what I think is the hottest (or, if you pref er, coolest) accessory right now f or women golf ers young and, uh, mature. Whatever you choose to wear, I hope you f ind some inspiration here to keep playing long af ter the leaves have f allen.

LIJA Style 3

LINDA HIPP, President and Creative Founder of Lija Style, put together three must-have pieces f or autumn in most of the country, and something f or those places where leaves don’t f all.

1

Break out the Fairway Pants (

2

), Whistler Jacket (

3

) and Apex Vest (

) f or the chilly days. T he pants, Hipp

says, “are slim f itting and extremely f lattering, made with a luxury technical stretch f abric with a lovely sheen f inish." T here’s more warmth f rom the vest’s synthetic down and quilting.

4

And if you’re in Calif ornia, don’t you have to have the Swif t Jacket (

) with the oversized collar shown

open over the long shorts at lef t? Hipp describes it as a “perf ect midlayer jacket” in cold weather, but who’d want to cover that up? “T he inside is brushed f or superior comf ort,” she adds.

EP Pro

KRIS WORTMAN, VP of Design at EP Pro, chose two very different looks, the sporty ensemble “Essential Pieces” at right and the country club “Kings Landing” collection at left. The first (right) – a striped polo (1) under a water resistant double-knit jacket (2) with EP Pro’s popular compression pant (3) – works for all of your weekend errands, workouts and walks. “You have a look that is at once pulled together, relaxed, and sporty!” says Wortman, who promises those pants are “guaranteed to make you look and feel a size smaller.”

The second outfit – inspired, Wortman says, by the medieval costumes in TV's “Game of Thrones” -- pairs beautifully textured sweater (4) in a solid color with tapestry jacquard print pant (5). “Beautiful Colors of Royalty and Medieval Gold – this story has a refined sensibility and offers that key selling asset of versatility,” says the designer. “On the course, this look is pulled together and sharp…throw on heels and a few bangles and the look takes you right to dinner with friends.”

Catherine Wingate, paired her classic pants (

T hat jacket makes f or a look that Ferrigno’s f ellow CEOs might f avor, yet, she notes, “T he inside is f leece, so very cozy. It has enough stretch to take a f ull swing." A key f eature f or a chief executive! T his item was a limited release and has been so popular this f all, most sizes are no longer available on

the website – you’ll have to go looking f or it in select pro shops, such as Hillcrest Country Club, Green Island CC, T he Meadow Club, and Arizona CC.

3

T he heathered long-sleeve shirt (

) is perf ect f or

cool-weather layering because it' s made of a super-sof t, moisture-wicking f abric. It comes in heathered black or the eggplant shown here.

LES LIE CHOW, f ounder and designer of Iconic Sport, clearly loves a black-and-white palette, but there’s plenty of room f or accent color on her f avorites.

“I love this outf it (lef t) because with thermal leg warmers(

“T he long sleeve mock turtle is one of our most popular styles, and I love this sophisticated geometric print in tonal greys and blacks,” says Chow,

who typically uses luxuriously touchable f abrics that stretch. All of the pieces are UPF

, machine washable and made in the USA.

KAREN PRESTON and LORRIE FORGATCH, co-owners of Lizzie Driver, have taken their brand into more than 250 shops with this elevator pitch: "sophisticated clothing for the country club fairway and every day." So it’s no wonder they paired a ready-for-work shirt and pair of pants with the idea that the wearer could go outside a little later to hit some balls. The colors characterize the "Birds of a Feather" collection, inspired by birds in flight. “In creating each collection, we strive to offer outfits that perfectly capture the mood of the season,” says Forgatch. “We’ve drawn from the exceptionally vibrant palette of fall foliage, balanced by the subdued tones of winter.” Featured are Lizzie Driver’s best-selling cropped pant(1) with either of two shirts in Liberty of London prints -California Condor (2) or the Mourning Dove 3/4-sleeve (3).

Editor's Pick: Daily Sports 1 2

OK, I’m a sucker f or tan, beige, cream and all of the neutral shades put together in one head-to-toe stream of f ashion. T his outf it f rom Daily Sports, a

20

-year-old

Swedish company now run by the daughter of the f ounders, looks f un f or the course – warm enough f or a

1

chilly day because of the long-sleeve polo (

2

wind-screening vest (

), the

) and the whimsical hat.

But I can’t help thinking how chic it would look f or dinner when the polo and vest are replaced by the shawl-collar Mallory pullover the model is wearing (unsensibly) tied

3

around her neck, and the skinny pants ( are accented with high heels.

4

Alas, I couldn’t f ind the Mallory (

)

online in any U.S. shops – or, f or that matter, the Lola Pom-Pom hat. T ime to bundle up f or an overseas trip?
