Administrative Assistants
Chris Filios Alex Hernandez Brian Michaelson Chris “Bubba” Filios serves the Gonzaga University men’s basketball program as an administrative assistant. Filios has become a behind-thescenes fixture for the Bulldogs. As an undergraduate he was a team manager. Following graduation he entered graduate school at Gonzaga and remained in the basketball program as an administrative assistant. One of Filios’ many duties is the coordination of all film and video scouting for the men’s basketball team. Filios, affectionately known as “Bubba”, is from Mountain View, Calif., and is a graduate of Saint Francis High.
Alex Hernandez serves the Gonzaga University men’s basketball program as an administrative assistant. Hernandez appeared in all 33 games with two starts as a senior in 2002. He averaged 5.8 ppg and 3.7 rpg as the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA West Regional. As a junior he appeared in 31-of-33 games with six starts, averaging 6.8 ppg and 2.6 rpg and the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. The native of Las Vegas, Nev., played at Casper, Wyo., Community College for two seasons prior to transferring to Gonzaga. Hernandez returned to Gonzaga for the 2008 season as an administrative assistant for men’s basketball. He is married to former Bulldogs women’s soccer player Jenny Harvey. The couple had their first child in the summer of 2008, daughter Isabelle.
Brian Michaelson serves the Gonzaga University men’s basketball program as an administrative assistant. Michaelson ended his 5-year Bulldog career in 2005, walking on and redshirting the 2001 campaign. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of his five years. He played in 11 games with one start as a senior. After graduating from Gonzaga the Portland, Ore., native remained in Spokane and worked in the real estate development business. But he longed to get into coaching and returned to Gonzaga this season. He is married to former Gonzaga women’s soccer player Sarah Hawkins.
