Bonnies (0-2)

vs.

Panthers (2-1)

Game News & Notes AT A GLANCE: The Bonnies aim to bounce back from a winless road trip to Wisconsin as they welcome Pittsburgh for the home opener at McGraw-Jennings Field. LAST MEETING: The Panthers blanked SBU 4-0 on Sept. 20, 2009 in Pittsburgh. STARTING OFF: Bonaventure suffered a pair of 4-0 defeats at the hands of No. 16/14 Marquette and Wisconsin-Milwaukee to open the season. Pitt, meanwhile, has produced wins over Eastern Michigan and Robert Morris, sandwiched around a 1-0 loss at Michigan. HOW WILL THEY FINISH?: The Bonnies have been predicted to finish seventh in the 16-team Atlantic 10, in voting conducted by the conference coaches. The Panthers were tabbed to finish seventh of seven teams in the Big East's American Division. STRIVE FOR FIVE: The Bonnies are seeking a fifth straight trip to the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2012. SBU is one of just three conference teams (Charlotte and Dayton are the others) to earn four straight berths in the A-10 postseason. WHO'S BACK?: Fifteen players return from SBU's 2011 team that went 9-7-4 overall and 4-2-3 in the Atlantic 10. The roster also features eight newcomers, all freshmen. IN GOAL: Senior goalkeeper Katie Kerkman started both games against Marquette and Milwaukee, combining for five saves. The games served as a homecoming for the Mequon native, a northern suburb of Milwaukee. HOME COOKING: Today's contest begins a four-game homestand for the Bonnies, who will also welcome Big 4 Rival Buffalo (1 p.m. Sunday), Syracuse (Aug. 31) and Bucknell (Sept. 2) to McGraw-Jennings FIeld.
