BLUE RAIDER NETWORK

Middle Tennessee’s excellent women’s basketball radio coverage took a significant stride in 2007-08 and will continue this season, with the flagship station for the Blue Raiders on WMOT 89.5 FM in Murfreesboro. The 100,000-watt station reaches beyond Bowling Green, Ky., to the north, Cookeville, Tenn., to the east, the Tennessee River to the west and to Fayetteville, Tenn., in the south. All Blue Raider women’s basketball games may also be heard on the Internet at GoBlueRaiders.com. Video streaming has been added for all Middle Tennessee home games at GoBlueRaiders.com. Dick Palmer begins his 32nd season of calling the play-by-play action for Middle Tennessee basketball and his seventh as the lead announcer for the women’s basketball team. Palmer, a 1960 graduate of Middle Tennessee, has been broadcasting sporting events for the past 50 years. Palmer is the brother of current team Chaplin B. E. Palmer. From 1971 until his return to Murfreesboro, he was the voice of the Memphis Blues Class AA baseball team, the Memphis Pros (later the Tams) in the American Basketball Association and the Memphis Grizzlies in the World Football League. Earlier, he worked in Jackson, Tenn., for nine years, broadcasting a wide range of high school sports and Union University’s basketball games. Palmer, who co-hosted the first sports call-in show in Nashville in the mid1970s, was the studio host for Vol Network football broadcasts for five years and has called the TSSAA Basketball State Tournament on the Tennessee Sports Radio Network every year since 1982. He has also served as a Little League baseball coach for over 40 years and in many other capacities in the Optimist

Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey will call the action of Blue Raider women’s basketball for the 2013-14 season.
