No grant of excise licences PANJIM : Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced that he would not grant new excise licences for the sale of liquor for a whole month sometime around June in a bid to ‘sort out’ the functioning of department. He also said that henceforth liquor licences would issued to everybody but discretion would be used. Replying to the discussion on the demands for grants in the State Assembly on

Tuesday, the CM said, “During that period, there will be no new licences unless all issues are sorted out.” He assured of commissioning a study and collect data on the existing licences, their misuse and other illegalities in the department. After this study is complete, the details of all these excise establishments would be online, Parrikar said.

Govt outlets to soon provide fish at affordable prices PANAJI: Following its success in providing vegetables at controlled rate through the Goa State Horticulture Corporation, the state government will now start supplying fish to the Goan population at an affordable price, beginning with six outlets around the state. The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar making this statement in the House on Wednesday said that initially such fish outlets would be opened at six places including Panaji, Pernem, Margao, Vasco and Canacona. “Some of the fishing trawlers have agreed to sell fish to government a gency at the wholesale rate, at 5 per cent overhead,” he said, informing that by October 2013, such outlets would be extended to other places. The Margao MLA, Mr

Digambar Kamat, who raised a related question in the House said that such a scheme, however, needs close monitoring as many hotel owners, hand-in-glove with the operators of such outlets could regularly purchase the entire stock of fish, leaving nothing for the

public. He also pointed out that the rate of fish is presently beyond the purchase power of the common man, stating that four mackerel cost Rs 100 in the market, while 25 mackerel are available for the same rate on wholesale basis at the fishing jetties.

In response, the Chief Minister said that some checkpoints such as a maximum of one to two kg of fish being sold to each customer, would be introduced so as to ensure that no such hand-in-glove sale takes place. Earlier, the Minister for

Fisheries, Mr Avertano Furtado said that in Goa, the average fish caught per day during the season by the trawlers and canoes for the year 2012 is 278 tonnes. “The total fish catch for the year 2012 is 90,515 tonnes, including 86,628 tonnes of marine haul and 3,887 tonnes of inland catch,” he added, pointing out that the fish export from Mormugao Port during the year 2012 is 42,675 tonnes. The Benaulim MLA, Mr Caetano Silva said that the extension of fishing ban in the state from 45 to 75 days should be revoked. Mr Caetano Silva, himself a fisherman, also maintained that no one really knows when is the breeding season of the fish, as small sized fish are available throughout the year.

Playboy Club will cause morale degradation says, Dr Wilfred Mesquita

PANAJI: Bharatiya Janata Party has reiterated that it was opposed to opening of a branch of Playboy Club in the state. Speaking on sidelines of the function attended by BJP national secretary, Ms Aarati Mehra, the BJP vice-president, Dr Wilfred Mesquita claimed that any such attempt will be detrimental to the Goan society and cause morale degradation. Even the local MLA, Mr Michael Lobo has threatened to go on hunger strike if the club is allowed to set shop in the state in its present form. PB Franchisee had last year announced their plan to open a branch at Candolim beach as a part of their nationwide plans to open 120 clubs, hotels, fashion cafes and shops in India over the next 10 years. The Tourism Minister, Mr Dilip Parulekar had postponed the reply on the club issue on the floor of the House on Tuesday, when it came in the form of a Calling Attention motion moved by Mr Lobo during

the ongoing Assembly session. The Congress party too has expressed their reservation over Playboy Club in Goa, claiming that it won’t be successful in the state. It may be recalled that Bailancho Saad has also strongly opposed the entry of the club in Goa. It claimed that at Playboy women are depicted only as sex objects and so will perpetuate exploitation of

women in the state. The state cannot legalise exploitation of women by

giving permission to such clubs, Dr Sabina Martins of Bailancho Saad said. Bailancho Saad has said that it will challenge the permission given to the promoters of Playboy in court as well as come out on the streets if the government permits the same. “The swearing of affidavits that no nudity or vulgarity or exploitation of women will take place are meaningless pieces of paper as they never are adhered to. When the Goa Gambling Prevention Act was amended to permit casino gambling, several assurances were given that gambling will take place ‘off shore’ and it would not affect the local community. This was not the case,” she added. She also said that after the permissions were given, there was blatant violation of the law with the active support of subsequent governments by making several more amendments to promote casino gambling, which was alien to the state. Today even the courts have not been able to move the casinos out of the rivers, she added.

House raises hope on Police Bill PANJIM : The longawaited Goa Police Bill, which offers hope of professional functioning of the force, will be tabled in the next Assembly session or in December after preparing a new draft, correcting certain embedded sections such as Section 144 of Cr PC and throwing it open for public feedback. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the House during Question Hour that the draft Police Bill will be circulated for public feedback and placed before a new select committee prior to placing it for discussion and voting in the Assembly. “A draft will be circulated two to three months (in advance) for opinion from citizens, NGOs and other organizations.

We will incorporate suggestions which are acceptable,” Parrikar said in response to a question on the status of Goa Police Bill tabled by Congress MLA Atanasio Monserrate. The new Bill, Parrikar presumes, is likely to be controversial as some might term it as ‘authoritarian’ while others may feel it is ‘too mild’. The Bill would also amend various irrelevant sections. Parrikar made it clear the Bill will not indicate total mind of the government. “For example, police uses Section 144 for the offences such as begging, loitering at night or (to impound) stray cattle. This section is actually not meant for these offences…It is like you are conducting an operation for an

ailment when it can be cured with a minor injection,” Parrikar explained with an analogy. He told the House that draft Police Bill 2008, which has been referred to the Assembly’s Select Committee has lapsed; following the dissolution of the

House and that the government will have a new draft. A new House Committee will be formed after placing the draft in public domain, he said. Mauvin Godinho expressed concern that discussions of the previous Select Committee on the now-

lapsed draft Police Bill will be futile. “We had serious discussions on that Bill (2008),” he said. Parrikar, who was also a member of the previous committee, allayed apprehensions saying that suggestions and discussions will be taken into consideration in the new draft.

reflecting life and socio-political happenings in India with which every Indian could identify, became popular largely with the growing, Englisheducated,Indian middle class. His Hindi pop/rock and film songs became instant hits with the Indian masses, earning him Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum Discs. A popular stage performer in India, he has also taken part in many music festivals around the world. He has performed

o m e R g Rockin

He is a pop/rock/ Indian fusion artist and film playback singer from the state of Goa, India. His musical work is a fusion of many different cultures and styles he's been exposed to as a child in Goa and in his later travels around the world. Such influences include Goan and Portuguese music, Sega music from Mauritius and Seychelles,African music, Latin music from Spain and South America, the music of erstwhile European communist states, those of the dancehalls from Jamaicaand Soca from Trinidad. Writing and singing songs in English made his success more rare and distinctive in the context of the Bollywood-dominated, Hindi language-based, occasionally even disco music scene that was popular in the 1980s and 1990s. His compositions in English,

with international names such as Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin and Queen, to name a few. He now writes and sings his songs in five different languages: English, Hindi, French, Portuguese and Konkani.

1986 was a turning point in his career when three things happened. The first was being invited to play at an official government function in Goa for the then visiting Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. There he sang a song titled 'Hello Rajiv Gandhi' causing a controversy in the local press and then in the national one. But Remo mailed these critical press clippings to the Prime Minister, who immediately replied saying he and his wife Sonia loved the song, and found nothing objectionable in it. This letter, written by the young new Prime Minister of a hitherto conservative country to a pop/rock musician, together with the whole story in pictures, spread like wild fire and was carried in countless publications all over India.

The second significant happening that year was Remo's singing in Bombay at a concert called "Aid Bhopal", held to raise funds for victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy, in which he sang two of his songs, 'Pack that Smack' and 'Ode to Graham Bell'. To his surprise, both his songs were televised by Doordarshan, the single TV channel in India, on four successive Sundays at prime time. In a country with just one monopolistic Government owned and run TV channel at the time, that was tremendous exposure.

turning point

The third happening was composing and performing the title song for the hit movie Jalwa, which was released the next year. This last event made him instantly famous due to the popularity of Bollywood cinema and of the Hindi language. Remo's "'Jalwa' was pathbreaking; it was a 15-minute piece of creative high-energy improvisation, featuring vocal scatting and a style of Indian flute playing which singers, musicians and music directors in India copy and emulate to this day.

Are there workouts to avoid? How do they pick the right workout, one that will serve them well over time? I eat and follow a nutritious diet. Everything time to time. I eat boiled eggs, bananas; chicken, milk; vegetables and I also drink a lot of water to keep myself hydrated. Who’s your favorite bodybuilder? My favourite bodybuilder is Mr. Premchand Dingra. Viju, besides joining a good gym, passion for bodybuilding and lots of luck what else a person needs to become a bodybuilder? B e s i d e s joining a good gym and passion for bodybuilding a good bodybuilder needs to follow a good diet and have a good surrounding with adequate rest. What is that biggest challenge you are facing right now? I don’t face any challenges as such but I need to keep working hard to keep my place safe because Goa is producing really good bodybuilders. Do you think that the sport of bodybuilding has future in India? The sport of bodybuilding will have a bright future in India only if there are no conflicts between the associations and if the organizers increase the prize money.

Gudhi Padwa is the Marathi name for the

hindu festival Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. It is the first day of the Hindu calendar month Chaitra (March-April as per the Gregorian calendar) and is celebrated as New Year's Day for Maharashtrians and Hindu Konkanis in India. The day is also known as Samvatsar Padvo. The days marks Hindu New Year according to Lunisolar calendar and is celebrated as Ugadi / Yugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The Hindu New Year is also celebrated based on Solar Calendar which is also celebrated as Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Bihu in Assam, Vaisakhi in Punjab, Pana Sankranti in Orissa and Naba Barsha in West Bengal and is normally celebrated on or around 14th April every year. This day is also the first day of Chaitra Navratri and Ghatasthapana also known as Kalash Sthapana is done on this day. The day is also celebrated as Chedi Chand (Sindhi New Year), Navreh (Kashmiri

Art & Culture New Year). The word padwa is derived from the Sanskrit word Pratipada for first day of a lunar month i.e. first day after new moon day (Amavasya). A Gudhi is also hoisted on this occasion giving this festival its name. The term padwa or padavo is also associated with Balipratipada the third day of Diwali which is another celebration that comes at the end of the harvesting season. On Gudhi Padwa, a gudhi is found sticking out of a window or otherwise prominently displayed in traditional Maharashtrian households. Bright green or yellow cloth adorned with brocade (zari) tied to the tip of a long bamboo over which gaathi (sugar crystals), neem leaves a twig of mango leaves and a garland of red flowers is tied. A silver or copper pot is placed in the inverted position over it. Altogether, it is called as Gudhi. It is hoisted outside the house, in a window, terrace or a high place

Friday, 12th April, 2013 conquests of the Maratha forces led by Chhatrapati Shivaji. It also symbolizes the victory of King Shalivahana over Sakas and was hoisted by his people when he returned to Paithan. Mythologically, the Gudhi symbolizes Lord Rama’s victory and happiness on returning to Ayodhya after slaying Ravan. Since a symbol of victory is always held high, so is the gudi (flag). It is believed that this festival is celebrated to commemorate the coronation of Rama post his return to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. Gudhi is believed to ward off evil, invite prosperity and good luck into the house. The Gudhi is positioned on

Gudhi Padwa so that everybody can see it. Some of the significances attributed to raising a Gudhi are as follows: Maharashtrians also see the Gudhi as a symbol of victory associated with the

the right side of the main entrance of the house. The right side symbolizes active state of the soul. On the festive day, courtyards in village houses will be swept clean and plastered with fresh cow-dung. Even in the city, people take the time out to do some spring cleaning. Women and children work on intricate rangoli designs on their doorsteps, the vibrant colours mirroring the burst of colour associated with spring. Everyone dresses up in new clothes and it is a time for family gatherings. Traditionally, families are supposed to begin the festivities by eating the bittersweet leaves of the neem tree. Sometimes, a paste of neem leaves is prepared and mixed with dhane, gul/ gur (known as jaggery in English), and tamarind. All the members of the family consume this paste, which is believed to purify the blood and strengthen the body’s immune system against diseases. Maharashtrian families also make shrikhand and Poori or Puran Poli on this day. Konkanis make Kanangachi Kheer, a variety of Kheer made of sweet potato, coconut milk, jaggery, rice flour, etc. and Sanna.

Absorbing everything new with ease, this is truly a holiday destination that is well worth every penny spent. Because of the impact of older Western influence, Goa is a place with much to see and learn. Preserving most of its colourful past in the buildings – it is to no surprise that some of Goa's mostvisited landmarks are its forts. The Terekhol Fort is one such fort that guards the riverbanks of Terekhol. Constructed by King Sawanwadithese riverbanks fell into the hands of the Portuguese in 1746 – under the rule of Dom Pedro De Almeida. Believed to be a key strategic point in the defence of city boundaries, the Portuguese built a Church within the fort as well. Caught in the middle of armed revolts between the Goans and the Portuguese, its walls are seeped with a sense of history. Leaving its battle-mired past behind, the Fort is now recognized for its architectural grandeur and stunning view across the ocean. Rebuilt by the Portuguese once it

Dr. P.P. Shirodkar in his article titled "Historic Fort of Terekhol" published in the Purabhilekh Puratatya, a journal of the Directorate of Archives; Panaji.A horrible massacre took place at the fort in 1835 following a military revolt. Even the British across the Goan borders had their eyes fixed on this strategically located fort. The Terekhol Fort has witnessed Goa's struggle for freedom from the 451 years of Portuguese rule with its varying boundaries. In August 1954, the National Congress (Goa) Satyagrahis led by the brave son of Goa Shri Alfred Afonso entered the fortress of Terekhol and unfurled the national tricolor over the fort for 22 hours. To commemorate this incident, the National Congress (Goa) - the Satyagrahi organization

observed 16th September 1954 as the ‘Terekhol Day' under the leadership of a young nurse from Mapusa, Krishnabai alias Shrimati Diukar at the fort. Another batch of Satyagrahis led by a young man, Alvino Belarmino Coelho marched to the fort of Terekhol and offered lessly beaten by the Portuguese. On 3rd August 1955, once again the fort was a silent spectator to the tragic death of Hirve Guruji, a brave Satyagrahi who was leading a batch of 127 unarmed satyagrahis to liberate Goa. He was fired at by the Portuguese soldiers and he succumbed to bullet injuries. A small but strong fortress crowned by turrets standing on the brow of a hillock of the northwestern end of the Pernem Taluka commanding a breath-takingly beautiful panoramic view of the vast expanse of the calm Arabian sea, the casuarinas of the KeriHarmal beaches, golden sands, swaying palms and the Terekhol river, the Terekhol fort is historic, and a tourist's delight and a pleasure holiday resort worth a visit.

DRESS TO IMPRESS During the recent times one has to look up to the mark when it comes to the job market, you must look your best when you actually land for an interview “First impressions are everything! It is your one moment to shine, and you should be put together from head to toe,” “Keep it simple!” is the main cautionary rule. Some more tips to be followed: •Don’t over style. Try to avoid curls and lots of volume to the hair. Save that instead for the celebration dinner! •Don’t fiddle with your hair! If your hair is long, consider pulling it back into a ponytail or a bun. •To save time, wash and dry your hair the night before the interview. By getting that out of the way, you’ll save time on the big day. •A light dusting of hairspray will keep flyaways at bay, and help you ensure a smooth polished look.

Prawns Biryani The difference between biryani and pullao is that while pullao may be made by cooking the items together, biryani denotes a dish where the rice (plain or fried) is cooked separately from the thick sauce (a greatly reduced curry of meat or vegetables). The curry and the rice are then brought together and layered, resulting in a dish of the contrasting flavours of flavoured rice (which is cooked separate with spices) and intensely flavoured sauce and meat or vegetables. The Preparation time is around 45 mins. This awesome rice dish taste best with raitha.

He set up this business with the

straightforward idea to put together a set-up that would bring in the expats and foreign tourists touring the beautiful Baga-Calangute coast in Goa.Dinner and drinks were served in close proximity of the crashing waves, under the soothing brightness of the traditional .lanterns called the Balao When Tito passed away his sons Ricky and David were in their teens. The Club was then known as Rich Davy. They has a bank balance of less than Rs. 100.But the brothers were determined to work hard. Yet, it was not so easy to acquire the club in their name. The owner offered it to them and they needed to raise the money. A bank manager helped. And it was then that they officially named the club .Tito’s in place of Rich Davy They did everything themselves that time. From picking up the empty bottles late night to going to the market early in the morning. They even dug up the roads to make the place better. When their lane was named Tito’s Lane by the local municipality in 2000, it was a proud moment for both the brothers and the mother Lucille De Souza. It was Lucille who successfully managed the club after her husband’s death with the help of both her younger sons. She is still an active person part .of the business at the ripe old age of 84 Today Tito’s are on the verge of going public and have their fingers in quite a few

pies. The brothers feel that going public is the next logical step to their business as they already have shareholders. Most of their colleagues who have been with Tito’s for a number of years and have proven their loyalty are shareholders in their various companies. Today Tito’s are into publication, travel and tourism, entertainment, hospitality, event management, real estates, financial services and a chain of supermarkets. Their partners in these ventures are their own workers. They have plans of opening an home furnishing store called La Salle as well as a one stop shop .for all hotel and restaurant equipment’s Tito’s venues include Tito’s Courtyard, Café Mambo, Retro Bar, The Club, Red Square, White house and World Café all in one lane where the locals and celebrities all come together to enjoy a rocking night out with good food. Best music and World class entertainment, every night of the week. That’s what Tito’s is all about for those who were .clueless about them The have also undertaken a lot of charitable works over the years andcontinue to do so. They have built houses for about 10 staff members, sponsored Goa United from inception, donated an ambulance to the village, built housing for the local chapel at sauntavaddo in Baga, built the water body for the Baga temple as well as contributed to the cobra Vaddo temple construction when the temple committees requested us, built crosses in baga and arpora for the benefit of the local parishioners. Besides this they have constantly contribute towards medical needs of the most needy in society and never discriminate on the basis of religion or caste or creed. They have alsocontributed towards social events like .football matches and local theatre When we look back and think about what“ makes us proud the most- it's the fact that almost all the restaurants, guest house owners

around us on Tito’s lane actually passed through Tito’s as members of staff! We had also trained about 250 kids from the locality in computer education as well as tailoring classes. We did all of this despite not being politically motivated nor wanting to gain any favours as we truly believe in the old adage- one reaps what one sows! And, God has been extremely kind to us in return” said Mr. Richardo owner of Tito’s while .signing off

Fabiano aiming high for Goan football Fabiano

De Souza is a man who went out of his way to promote and propagate football in Goa. Hailing from Calangute he has dreamed big in Goan football. Fabiano, the president of Goa United Sports Academy is a man who humbly says football wouldn’t have reached a height where it is at the moment in his village without support of Titos, Charlston Hotel and many other well-wishers. He also believes that football has yet to go a long way in Goa.

What came to your mind while starting GUSA? Football is my passion and many children in Calangute were involved in Alcohol and drugs so myself and stanley Ferrao decided to form a academy. I admire Manchester United, so I thought of naming our academy as Goa United Sports Academy (GUSA). GUSA was at its initial stage in August, 2000 and it took shape in October, 2000 wherein 300 children were part of the training programme our academy undertook. I was a midfielder during my youthful days and even captained my school team as well as the Xavier’s college team and played alongside with Arjuna awardee, Bruno Coutinho.

Why only football? I wanted to take up football as a career but my knee injury was a major setback. But this didn’t put off the fire of football in me as I began my new journey in youth development of football alongwith the Stanley Ferrao. Besides football I used to play other sports as well such as table tennis, volleyball, kho-kho, hockey and athletics.

Which is your favourite player and why? No doubt, it has to be Bruno Coutinho. He was one of the best strikers India has ever produced and is still a fierce striker in veterans

tournaments. In those days, Vijayan too was a very skilful player and Baichung Bhutia, a very intelligent one.

What do you think is the need of the hour in Goan football? Goa Football Association should focus on youth development, development of coaches and referees. According to me Goa Football Association (GFA) needs to do much more to improvise football in Goa given the fact that the current Government has declared football as the official sport of Goa State. GFDC (Goa Football Development Corporation) is doing its part in developing youth but they should have centre of excellence i.e. three centers each in north and south Goa.

How do you rate the current Goa Pro League and I-League? Unprofessional : Same players should not play in both the leagues. I wouldn’t have much to say about the Goa league nor the I-League as I have stopped watching them. There is absolutely no punch in the leagues. The standard of the league is really low. Only when these clubs get serious in youth development of their players, then only I would Iove to watch them and then I would also be happy to send my academy boys to watch league matches.

What is your next goal? I have a dream of making beach football big in Goa / India as we are blessed with many beautiful beaches in Goa especially in Calangute which is a major tourist hub and we will request the Govt. to reserve the permanent place on beach for beach football. I have lot of interest to develop women’s football in Goa. As beach football and women’s football have many opportunities for India to compete at the world level and we can do it in top 20 in the world.

At what age do you think one should retire from football?

Age does not restrict anyone from playing football. One should play as long they are fit and age should not be a bar for any player as long as he performs. Most of our youth players retire from football at the young age after warming the benches which is not a good sign for Goan football and that’s why we don’t see many Goan playing in the I league.

What are the prospects of the players in your academy? The best thing about this academy most of the big clubs in Goa are looking out for our boys. We don’t charge a fee to train out budding footballers who have the thirst to learn and love for the game. We are a non-residential academy and we undertake our practice session at the Poriat ground at Calangute prior to which we used to have our practices at Calangute Association ground, Baga ground and St Josephs High School ground, Calangute. Few fruits of Goa United Sports Club are Anthony D’ Souza who is playing for Salgaocar, Pratesh Shirdokar for Sporting Clube De Goa and Myron Fernandes who is a (cont. on Pg. No. 15)

part of Goa’s Champion team Dempo Sports Club and there are many other players. There are many European clubs who are interested to sponsor our Indian players and I think their future is bright. Did your academy received any awards from Government or GFA for doing such a wonderful Charity work in Development of Football? We have never received any awards from anyone, we carry on our work and devote all my time for the development of football in Goa. There are many who appreciate our work and I will name few of them i.e. SAG under Mr. V.M. Prabhudesai Ex-Executive Director of SAG, Mr. Bramhanand Shankhwalkar, Mr. Bruno Cutinho, Mr. Albert Colaco. A.I.F.F. secretary who used to sent all the India’s coches at our centre and Mr. Savio Messais. Ex-secretary of G.F.A.

Dudhsagar

13 km from the Falls. The railway route for reaching the falls from Goa is Madgaon-Collem- Dudhsagar Falls. One can reach the falls from Collem railway station by a much shorter 6 km long road. The other route is from Carambolim (Karmali Railway Station of Konkan Railways. The route is Carambolim-Old GoaPonda-Tiska-Mollem (total 50 km) Dudhsagar Falls. Ordinary cars are not suitable for the drive to the Falls and within the forest sanctuary. One should use a fourwheel drive vehicle (SUV) as the road is a jungle track that has fast-flowing streams criss-crossing it at several points. The motorable track stops a kilometre before the Falls and one has to walk one kilometre crossing

the world's most exquisite falls

Dudhsagar Falls is a tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa on Goa's border with the state of Karnataka . It is four-tiered. It is situated at a distance of 60 kms from the capital city of Panaji by road and 46 kms from the Madgaon railway junction by train. As the cascading waters appear white like milk, the waterfall is called Dudhsagar, Doodh being the Hindi word for milk. This waterfall is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wild Life Sanctuary at Collem in South Goa in the Western Ghats. The waterfall is on the border of Karnataka and Goa states. A small rest house is maintained in the forest by the Karnataka Forest Department and is the only place to stay there. At the base of the waterfall, there is a small pond. The surrounding area is surrounded by a deciduous forest and many species of birds, insects, plants and animal abound here. Dudhsagar is one of the world's most exquisite falls. It lies high up in the Mandovi River's watershed and so are not particularly spectacular during the dry season. During the monsoon season however, the falls are transformed into one of the most

powerful falls in India. Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's fifth tallest waterfall and is 227th in the world at 310 m. The water plummets hundreds of metres (over a thousand feet) in large volumes during the rainy monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa. It is a major part of the Goa ecosystem. It is a four-tiered waterfall with a total height of 310 metres (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet) The Waterfall can be reached both by road and rail. It can be reached by road from Panaji or Madgaon by National Highway NH4A and

by train from Madgaon railway junction or Londa railway junction. There is a railway station called Dudhsagar Falls where trains stop for a minute or so for technical reasons but no tickets are issued to or from this station and it is not a commercial halt for trains. The next railway station is Collem on Madgaon-Castle Rock-Londa track,

over small paths carved through the rocks at the foot of the Falls. Trekking in Dudhsagar is a famous tourist attraction. There are two abandoned shelters for the refuge of trekkers (left to the falls and right side beside the railway track). They are available on the first-come-firstserved basis.

Zanzibar is one of the most famous beach shack restaurants on Baga beach in Goa. This place is especially nice in the evening or night. During the evening, they also set out tables in front of the restaurant right on the beach, so you can take off your shoes and feel the cool sand while you relax to candlelight and moonlight and have a leisurely meal. The food, although not expensive by Goa standards, it’s found to be quite good. The food overall and the ambiance is great too .They also serve nice cocktails and drinks. There’s a small bar in the restaurant, but you can of course sit outside and order. All in all definitely one of the most relaxing shacks for eating or drinking at Baga on the beach itself.

It's really sad to hear about the demise of one of the greatest and true stateswomen in the history of true politics. The lady who pumped Iron into Britain, who inspired the women and men across the world, who fought for her nation as a true citizen, a true leader and as a Iron lady is no more with us. The lady who had the eye of Caligula and the lips of Marilyn Monroe and was considered as the best man in England left us with her own memories of leadership. The lady who did not know the meaning of the word defeat and always pursued the win has given us a model to create the winning atmosphere. You will always be loved and admired Madam Prime Minister...

Thatcher was born Margaret Hilda Roberts in Grantham, Lincolnshire, on 13 October 1925. Her father was Alfred Roberts, originally from North amptonshire, and her mother was Beatrice Ethel from Lincolnshire. She graduated from Oxford in 1947 with Second-Class Honours in the four-year Chemistry Bachelor of Science degree; in her final year she specialised in X-ray crystallography under the supervision of Dorothy Hodgkin. Margaret Thatcher, was a British Conservative Party politician who

Friday, 12th April, 2013 was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longestserving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is the only woman to have held the office. A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics

major political party in the United Kingdom. She became Prime Minister after winning the 1979 general election. After moving into 10 Downing Street, Thatcher introduced a series of political and economic initiatives to reverse what she perceived to be Britain's precipitous national decline. Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation (particularly of the financial sector), flexible labour markets, the privatisation of stateowned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions. Thatcher's popularity during her first years in office waned amid recession and high unemployment, until economic recovery and the 1982 Falklands War brought a resurgence

IRON LADY and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism. Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election to become Leader of the Opposition and became the first woman to lead a

of support, resulting in her re-election in 1983. Thatcher was re-elected for a third term in 1987, but her Community Charge (popularly referred to as "poll tax") was widely unpopular and her views on the European Community were not shared by others in her Cabinet. People for animals ( Milan Naik) (PFA) People For Animals is India's largest animal welfare organization with a nationwide network of 2.5 lakh members. As the name goes this NGO actually meant for animals. The NGO is based in Vasco. It looks after the stray as well as the pet’s dogs. Milan Naik who looks after the administration of this NGO is proud to tell that there are approximately 120 cages to keep the sick dogs. Every year they conduct an anti rabies vaccination camps wherein they provide free vaccination to the stray dogs and they charge Rs.100 for pet dogs. Whenever the stray dogs are sick they pick them up from the streets and provide them with the necessary medications. Besides this the NGO also takes good care of sick pet dogs as and when the owners are unable to give proper medical facilities to their pets. Though they are animals but sometimes they can also fall sick and need medication just like us human beings. The NGO also takes initiatives to sterilize the stray dogs so that there is less birth rate among them and also to reduce the chance of rabies disease and spreading of it. There are people when

they notice sick dogs lying on the street they inform this NGO and the team runs to the spot immediately and brings the dog to the clinic and provides medical care to them. They keep the dog till they are alright and once they are fit they leave them at the same place from where the dog was picked. They also pick and clear cows or cattle’s that are dead on the roadside due to accidents as it creates traffic jam and sometimes other beasts attack or feed on them. Today we leave a life where we do not have time for anybody other then ourselves but there are people who take out the time to look after the stray animals.
