Add Resources to the Go Green Resource Map: To access the Resource Map, go to http://www.communitywalk.com Log in using the following credentials: Username: gogreen Password: greenillinois Once you are logged in, click on the map name “Go Green ILA Community Asset Map” You will see a pop‐up asking you if the map will be published, shared, or private. Click “close this wizard” to skip this. We want the site always set to “shared.”

Add your Resource: • • •

Click the link Add Marker from the Build This Map tab at the top left above the map. At this point, you can enter a zip code or address to add by searching, add the exact address in the “by address” field, add by longitude/latitude, or click on the map to add the marker. A pop up will appear that allows you to enter the details about your resource. o Title: Describe your resource in a few words. o Select a category from the dropdown list. o Enter the description of the resource in the Description field. Click on the Address tab to enter the exact address of the Resource. To add details such as a web address, click the Details tab and type the URL in the Website field (http://www.enteryourwebsitename.com) Click Save to add your resource to the map.

Adding photos to your resource: With your marker window still open, click the link Add Photo at the bottom of the Marker Detail window. You can add all the photos in the next window, along with Titles and Descriptions for each. Once you are finished adding photos, click Back to Main View to review your changes.


Adding a Video: Want to add a video to your description? Copy and paste the code below in the description window where you want the link to appear: media('Watch the video', '<embed …></embed>') Replace “…” with the embed text from YouTube (or other video host), starting with “src=” Here is an example using a video from Gail Borden’s YouTube channel: media('Watch the video', '<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nQGukuDC71A?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x‐shockwave‐ flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed> Save a view for your website: Want to link to the Go Green Resource map from your website? • • • •

Zoom in to the area on the map you want to focus on when your constituents access it. Use the zoom tools in the top left corner of the map. Click the tab Share/Export To link to the map, click Link to this Map and copy the link from the bottom field that reads …or use this to link directly to the current view. Use that link from your website to direct users to the map. While they will not be able to interact with the map, they will be able to view the resources in your community and across the state.
