The GNLC Practice-Focused Doctoral Award The Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition (GNLC) is pleased to offer a Doctoral Award of $500 to a student currently enrolled in a practice-focused doctoral program in nursing (DNP) in a Georgia school. Application deadline is 5pm, Friday, January 5, 2018. The GNLC will select and notify the award recipient by January 19, 2018. To be eligible for the award: 1) Student must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program at a school in Georgia, and have a GPA of at least 3.5 The following are the schools with practice-focused doctoral programs in nursing in Georgia: Augusta University Brenau University Emory University/Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing Georgia College & State University Georgia State University Georgia Southern University Mercer University/Georgia Baptist College of Nursing 2) Student must hold a current, valid nursing license in Georgia 3) Capstone/project proposal must have been accepted by school 4) Student must write an essay (150-250 words) describing how the capstone/scholarly project will benefit nursing and/or patient care in Georgia and what impact the student believes his/her experiences as a doctoral student will have on the student’s future in nursing 5) Student must submit capstone/scholarly project proposal abstract including: Background, Purpose/Aims, Methods, and Implications. 6) Student must submit one letter of recommendation from his/her committee chair/advisor addressing the student’s merit and the strength of the capstone/ scholarly project proposal 7) The GNLC expects the award recipient to commit to attend the 2016 Doctoral Symposium

Applicants should submit the following – please make sure your documents are labeled clearly to avoid confusion (last name and document type; e.g. Smith transcript): 1) Transcript (unofficial or official) 2) Copy of current, valid Georgia nursing license 3) Copy of form or official communication that capstone/scholarly project proposal has been accepted by school 4) Essay (150-250 words, preferably a word document) 5) Capstone/project proposal abstract including: Background, Purpose/Aims, Methods, and Implications. 6) One letter of recommendation from committee chair/advisor Criteria for judging the applications: 1. Significant contribution to nursing science Demonstrates a measurable improvement or impact on care delivery and/or patient outcomes; may be replicated in other settings. 2. Scientific merit 3.
