We believe that opera can transform lives. That’s why, since 2006, we’ve welcomed over 20,000 students to Glyndebourne for our dedicated Performances for Schools. Often their first taste of opera, it’s an experience like no other: Glyndebourne’s worldfamous auditorium filled entirely with students, a special introduction on stage and then all the emotion, spectacle and intensity of a full length and fully staged Glyndebourne opera.

Your visit Free educational resources • An online guide to Don Giovanni available from September 2016 at glyndebourne.com/operaguides • A tailored on-stage introduction before the performance • A specially commissioned Performance for Schools programme for each student.
Getting to Glyndebourne Glyndebourne is in the heart of the Sussex countryside and only 10 miles outside Brighton. There’s plenty of on-site parking for coaches, and 12 acres of gardens for your students to enjoy during their visit.
Accessibility The performance is suitable for all students from Year 8 upwards (aged 13 and above). We understand that for some children the behaviour expected during a performance may become overwhelming during their visit. To ensure that all members of the audience enjoy the experience, we provide a relaxed space adjacent to the auditorium in which students can continue to watch the opera via a live link to the stage. To find out more please contact us at education@glyndebourne.com
Glyndebourne’s Performances for Schools are supported by Arts Council England and the Clore Duffield Foundation with additional support from The Foyle Foundation, The Kowitz Family Foundation, Mike and Agatha Taylor, Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, William and Alex de Winton and one anonymous supporter.
Glyndebourne is an Arts Awards supporter and attending one of our Performances for Schools could be part of your student’s portfolio.

Don Giovanni
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
A revival of the Festival 2010 production Sung in Italian with English supertitles
A dark comedy that follows Don Giovanni as he commits murder, seduces several women and joyfully manipulates all of those around him, including his loyal servant Leporello. Utterly merciless, he refuses to repent his sins to the man he killed and is condemned to hell. Not many comic operas begin with a cold blooded murder and end with the hero’s consignment to hell – but Don Giovanni swings restlessly between comedy and tragedy to startling effect. Jonathan Kent’s sleek and suspenseful production, last seen on the Tour in 2010, captures this duality brilliantly.
Cast includes Don Giovanni....................................... Duncan Rock Don Ottavio................................. Anthony Gregory Donna Anna................................... Ana Maria Labin Donna Elvira................ Magdalena Molendowska Leporello............................................ Brandon Cedel Il Commendatore...........................Andrii Goniukov Zerlina................................................... Louise Alder
The performance lasts approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.
