With winter bearing down on us in full force, January and February can sometimes feel like the hardest months of the year.

Here at GLOSSYBOX, however, we firmly believe in retail therapy—stay warm with our selection of knits and sweaters or start shopping early for your significant other with our "Him & Her" gift guides.

We also spoke to hair stylist Sean Gallagher to find out what are the best dry shampoos in the market, as well as picked up some new hair tricks. As usual, the "It List" is chock full of our current favorites (everyone should own an ear cuff, stat). We hope you enjoy our Jan/Feb issue!

ASK AN EXPERT Serge Normant Senior Hair Stylist and Colorist Sean Gallagher answers our most pressing hair questions.

My boyfriend dislikes using styling products becuase he hates the way they feel on his hands. Can you recommend a product that performs well without gunking up your hands?

One hands free method is the Tancho Pomade Stick.

It's great for creating an easy wet look. It looks similar to a stick of deodorant and is applied just the same (but to your hair). Just run the stick over your locks to give them a quick effortless tame down.

Another method is dry shampoo, women rave about this stuff, but it's also great for men! It gives you a dry texturized look as opposed to the wet gel style. Spray it on the roots to give them a boost and as an added bonus it'll keep your hair looking clean when your scalp begins to produce oils.

What are the top trends you're forcasting for the beginning of 2014? How do they translate to a real person vs. runway or celebrity?

I think we're going to see a lot of texture and curls pulled straight from movies like

American Hustle and runways like Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013. We're seeing refined volume and big hair right now and it's so chic. The biggest difference from runway to real life is all about severity.

If you don't feel like you can pull off the Amy Adams pseudo perm hair style - take it down a notch and wear a look that you feel sexy and comfortable in.

I've been hearing so much about dry shampoo lately, what's your favorite and why?

My favorite is definitely Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Shampoo. It sprays evenly and dosent clog up. It's not too white or thick when used properly (you must shake the can a lot and spray on roots).

For brunettes or people that are new to the product and need extra lift, the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is another amazing option. The only problem, it's not an actual dry shampoo, it is a very dry hair spray. It's better for adding height and volume as opposed to absorbing oil at your roots in between washes.
